Aisling Bea?
The best comedians seem to be the ones who poke fun at authority and pomposity.
Do you have any favorites? I’m always looking for discoveries.
+1 John Finnemore does the affable idiot in Cabin Pressure as well as Gracie Allen or Woody Harrelson did on their shows. I think you meant archive.org not archive.com, but the whole series is also available Audible.com. I believe there were 26 total episodes, with the destination of each progressing through the alphabet, from Abu Dhabi to Zurich.
Dark humor. I find this hilarious.
As for my comedians, I prefer the self - deprecating storytellers. John Mulaney, Mike Birbiglia, Patton Oswald, et al.
Anyone who can turn pain into humor, I am all about that.
You’ve seen the Demotivator series, right? It looks like they’ve updated ![]()
But some classics remain:
No, and having looked at her now, I can’t seem to bring up other female stand-up comedians in Google, dang it. I’ll have to look further than page 3.
Ah, she’s English, but she’s got a bit of a brogue on her. It’s Sarah Millican.
In 2004, my college roommates at the time and I were in the living room and silently doing crap on our individual computers. We had Comedy Central on and they were playing an ad excerpted below that had Family Guy’s Peter nursing Stewie. We all looked up and saw it at the same time and nearly fell out our our seats in laughter.
They played that ad a lot at that time and we nearly died from laughter every time. We all tried but could never et the gasping disbelief sounds that Stewie makes.
I really like Triumph out in public.
The Star Wars fans one is really good:
But the clip at Wiener Circle in Chicago is gold:
Related, I love Conan.
His delivering Chinese food is hysterical:

But the Old Timey Baseball is laughjerking:
Sorry for the double but if it’s standup, check this. I like a clever setup like ‘Ken Cheng rants about the phrase ‘two birds with one stone’’ Double single quote there.
Jack McBrayer…have you seen “Drunk History” on Comedy Central? They get loaded and tell stories about famous events etc. Jack shows up often to act them out.
Haha, I came in to guess Sarah Millican. She’s what they call a Geordie, but in my ignorance of British accents, I thought she sounded Irish too.
Thanks for letting me know there’s new ones!
My all time favourite is the late Dave Allen.
I’ve just recently discovered Desus and Mero on Showtime and I can’t get enough of them.
Best talk show ever. I can be in the shittiest of moods, put them on and I’m laughing my ass off.
