Now, of course I was thinking only of the original animated film - I’m not going daffy, am I? In the movie it was Pongo and Perdy.
A re-make I would like to see, if done right, is -The Day the Earth Stood Still-(1951) The message is clear and it needs repeating. Watch it!
Nono, you’re right, but the person to whom you were originally replying said:
So I was explaining how “Perdy” in the movie differed from “Perdita” in the book, which is what was (I thought) causing the confusion. Turns out I was only ADDING to the confusion, so YAY! My work here is done!
I feel smarter already! I didn’t even know there was a book.
I agree. I think originals and remakes of good movies coexist very well. I just watched *Cape Fear * with Peck and Mitchum and it is still a very good story which is well acted. It held up very well with Nolte, Deniro and a contemporary setting.
I think The Day the Earth Stood Still would also do well with an update.
slightly spoilery for those who have not actually read the original novel version of “101 Dalmatians”…
In the movies yes… BUT in the book it was Pongo and Missus. (The two lead Dalmatians who hook up)
Perdita was actually a third Dalmatian that Pongo and Missus meet on the road while searching for their puppies that Cruella stole. Perdita was another Dalmatian also on the road looking for her litter that had been sold off by her cruel owner.
A cookie to whoever guesses to whome the evil owner sold Perdita’s puppies to…
Urgh. That is what I get from not reading this thread all the way through… YOu are right and you did clear things up better then me… hehehehe… I guess my memory of the book is a little fuzzy in places…
thanks for you help!
The Difference between Perdy in book and movie was causing the confusing…
I think it’s obvious Perdy was a slut with a great agent.
I’m still waiting for the definitive film version of Dracula. The book is a masterpiece, which has never been properly produced as a film. I would love to see a literate, independent-minded production of Dracula. (As opposed to the overblown big-studio disaster that Coppola gave us.)
Several of the Bond films could stand improvement:
Casino Royale
You Only Live Twice
Diamonds Are Forever
Live and Let Die
The Man with the Golden Gun
Moonraker
A View to a Kill
The irony is the the most faith addaption to date has been Mal Brooke’s Spoof.
I would love to see a remake or update of Firefox. The flight scenes are amazing (not in the slightest bit realistic I know) in the original and with modern technology they could be totally unbelievable.
My one condition is that they use the same model for the Firefox itself, the best looking fictional plane ever made.
The run on the Riga would be incredible in itself…
The problem with making a movie of the sequel is that the plane itself only really makes an appearance at the very start and end of the book.
