What movies were pretty much regarded as stinkers, but you secretly enjoy?

I forgot how much I loved that – familiar to me from having lived in a few of the neighborhoods that were used for location shots.

Can’t forget the infamous “golf clap” which I use whenever someone gives a particularly useless or self-congratulatory speech.

I don’t anyone has mentioned The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen yet

Secondhand Lions–it’s rated as 59% on Rotten Tomatoes, but I love it anyway. I’ll watch it just about any time it’s on.

When I first saw it, Micheal Caine’s near perfect accent caught me off guard though.

I am utterly shocked that the movie got such mixed reviews. It’s a fantastic and incredibly touching film, certainly one I would recommend to anyone.

I’ve seen it quite a bit more than that, as one of my mom’s best friends was utterly obsessed with Patrick Swayze in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Movie night almost always involved either Road House or Dirty Dancing. And yet I still watch it anytime I find it on tv. Because honestly, who could possibly not love Road House? I mean, you got Sam Elliot, the Jeff Healey Band, and a close-up of Patrick Swayze’s bare ass–what more could anyone ever want in a movie?

I LOVE “Undercover Blues” – is that considered a bad movie? I had no idea. Hm.

My favorite U.B. quote:

“Don’t make any sudden moves!”
“Why? Is there a bee on me?”

Oh, and I came in here to mention Xanadu.

I remember really enjoying Vibes (with Cyndi Lauper, Jeff Goldblum, and Peter Falk). But it’s been 20 years since I watched it.

The Boondock Saints and its sequel, The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day

Regarded by critics as stinkers, but audiences liked them, as do I.

Tremors – all four movies. They are a must watch in my family.

Tremors I is considered a topnotch B movie, something of a classic. Where did you learn that it was a “stinker”?

Just dropped in to say Last Action Hero is high on my list too.

“Practice, practice, practice!”

I remember Vibes, I need to see if we still have it on video tape so I can transfer it to digital! And they used to show Tremors 1 all the time, now it is the one in Mexico they always show =(

Anybody remember House, House 2 and House 4 [there was no house 3 =)]? William Katz, and a bunch of others. Good cheesy horror. I have them on video tape, think Ill transfer them to digital this week =)

I loved the first House but didn’t see the others. Was Katz in all of them?

Recently watched Nazis at the Center of the Earth. The movie was definitely bad, but I was entertained. I’m also a sucker for Steven Seagal and Jean Claude Van Damme movies.

World According to Ginger

I think you misread the title of this thread. It said movies that are regarded as stinkers, not movies regarded as fantastic.

Anyway the scene where Reba McEntire and Michael Gross as the survivalists pump the monster full of lead was fucking awesome.

No. And it’s William Katt, by the way. I think the second one had John Ratzenberger in it, and was overtly comedic.

William Katt was in I and IV. John Ratzenberger was in II, playing the guy every D&D player wants to be when he grows up.

Yeah, it seemed off as I was typing it.

I must be the only person not currently operating, planning, or on the way home from a garage sale who owns a copy of It’s Pat. If not for YouTube I would still watch it just for the Ween cameos. The film is easier to appreciate if you imagine that’s actually Isabella Rossellini playing Pat’s love interest.

Shakes the Clown is one of my all-time favorite films though. Bobcat Goldthwait is an underappreciated filmmaker.
