We lost our entire music collection in the fire, decades of filk, gone. I put on Meg Davis’s Captain Jack And The Mermaid on Amazon Prime not long ago and “My Winter Rose” is currently playing. I’ll probably put on Fish’s Avalon Rising next.
Added to say-“Other People’s Children” just came on, a memory of sitting at her feet as she sang this at a filk circle many years ago just came to me, and I think I’m going to cry.
Ah, Tocotronic, good choice. They had a pre-election song singling out the AfD, “Denn sie wissen, was sie tun” (Because they know what they’re doing), but sadly it didn’t help much.
KCSM jazz in San Francisco is streaming on the Sonos, as it is every day. Except Sunday morning when they play old timey jazz (20s, etc), which I dislike. Then it’s whatever we’re in the mood for from our iTunes library. Usually some sort of world music or some old rock albums that I uploaded during the pandemic.
That drum intro sounds suspiciously like another rock song that I can’t dredge up at the moment. Maybe Love Shack?
Now that you mention it, it sounds familiar to me too. I listened to the start of “Love Shack”, and the drum intro is quite similar, but not identical. I can’t put my finger on which song it reminds me.
Well, that Art Of Noise song (which I didn’t know) instantly reminded me of Phil Collins “Don’t Lose My Number”, and probably this was the song the Tocotronic song reminded me of.
