Highlights:
- Cartman using a computer model to analyze how “retarded” he can be
- Timmy trying to explain to Mr. Mackey about Jimmy’s steroid problem
- Cartman’s mom trying to go along with her sadistic son’s plan
Highlights:
Timmy: “Timmy! Jimmy! Timmy!”
Jimmy: “Don’t lecture m-me on the complexity of sportsmanship!”
Fagjunk Theology: Not just for Sodomite Propagandists anymore!
Nearly pissed myself laughing. I think that they really did a great follow up to last weeks episode.
I have a question though, does anyone remember the music that played in the background when Jimmy was in the hall crying to himself? This was after he finished beating the hell out of Nancy. The music is familliar but I can’t place the movie or scene.
“Why are you making me do this to you?”
–Jimmy–
One more point: this is the second week in a row that Cartman has been drawn making a face that looks exactly like this fat slob who works where I do. Kinda scary.
It’s Barber’s Adagio for Strings. Made famous by the movie Platoon.
And it freakin’ made this episode, I think.
Just when you thought they might have run out of things to be offensive about…
I loved the tense, angsty Rocky-style music about “eye of the tiger” and “pushing it to the edge” etc.
Cartman’s Mom: “Well, I’m not sure…what exactly IS wrong with you dear?”
Cartman: “How the hell should I know? I’m retarded!!”
The episode is re-airing right now. Is it just me, or does the kid (Lincoln?) who sells Jimmy the steroids look like he was animated by the folks who draw Kid Notorious? He kinda talks like a young, even more slurred Robert Evans, too.
I dunno. For some reason this particular episode didn’t strike me as terribly funny. It certainly had its moments and its chuckles, but I thought it was a letdown compared to last week’s spectacular ninja weapon fiasco.
He looked and talked sorta like a “special” Marlon Brando, I thought.
Did anyone else find it spooky that there was no profanity?
Well, a coupla “bleeps,” but…
It had a few funny parts, but most of it was “eh”.
Cartman getting his ass beat by all the special kids was great. However, I guess it was the whole steriods thing. Hasn’t the use of Steriods been widely condemned for 20 years or so? Most of the time when they do issues they at least look at it from a different angle but nothing like that here.
Even the smoking one when they were making fun of all the anti-tobacoo commercials and such…but this…The daily show’s segment about the card player being bounced because she refused to take a drug test was far more interesting then the South Part Steriod episode.
There’s probably a little bit of a letdown factor as well because last week’s was great.
I think they were more riffing on Bush’s State of the Union Address in which he identified steroid use in pro sports as one of the two most destructive forces in America today, the other being same-sex marriage.
And that was a repeat from last year. (The segment; not the show.)
Thanks. It was driving me mad. IIRC it was the part where Elias was killed. Real powerfull. I watched South Park again and paid close attention to that scene, it was bizzare to be horrified and still laugh out loud. Christ these guys are funny.
I think the end where Jimmy repeatedly says that “anyone who uses steriods is a big stinking pussy” would count as profanity. Including the athletes who were steriod users and had to listen to Jimmy making his speach was classic.
“Timmy! TIMMY!!! TIMMAY!!”
“Right, uh hu, you’re Timmy. K.”
And, the three Major League players appearing at the Special Olympics awards ceremony were specific players who have been accused of using steroids. You may recall their blank-faced closeups while Jimmy was explaining that steroids are for wretched little pussies who are afraid to compete fairly and pussy out because they’re big pussies.
I’m looking forward to next week, when Kyle finally sees The Passion.
Like I said last week, when the boys get preachy the funny goes away.
Although Cartman losing every event was pretty funny. Overall though, a pretty lackluster effort further marred the heavy handed “message”.
The close-ups on Macguire (sp?) et al reminded me of the close-ups on O.J., Gary Condit and the Ramseys in the episode where Butters goes ‘missing.’

Speaking of Butters, how’s his eye?
