In reading some other posters, I’ve noticed several other boards being mentioned. I’m familiar with snopes (just joined, actually) but are there any others that contain a lot of dopers, or just interesting boards in general?

My personal opinion is that there aren’t really any others that are worth a great deal of our time, but it really depends on your personal tastes.
This is the best-rounded one and the posters here tend to be a more intelligent breed (no, I’m not being intellectually snobby). They’re fun anyway.
Newsgroups:
alt.fan.cecil-adams The folks are nice enough, although there is a bit of an attitude about moderated boards and web-based boards, so there are occasional sniping shots at the SDMB (since this is a moderated, web-based board).
misc.facts.straight-dope Started before this MB truly got up and running. Original core was AOL/SDMB folks who preferred NewsGroups to Message Boards. It has picked up some visitors from alt.fan.cecil-adams and some “outsiders.” It is not a very high volume site. There have been some really good discussions and some very nasty feuds–both magnified by the smaller number of posters.
alt.fan.urban-legends which deals in many of the same topics as Cecil, but which has developed a reputation as a group that is hostile to newbies.
Message Boards:

The Pizza Parlor which is a refuge for escapees from the Left Behind Message Board since that site became an armed camp (with all the guards’ guns pointed inward at the members). It is a friendly place, oriented toward (but not limited to) Fundamentalist Christianity. They are not looking for rationalist vs religious debate.
And, as you mentioned, snopes now has their own message board.
