I apologize for the atrocious wordplay, but it has its uses sometimes. See, another of my experiments involved the turf on my back lawn and a large one-horned pachydermatoid, and the resulting perennial rhinograss was getting seriously out of control, much as the hambush did. But I set about it with a bon mot or two and pretty soon it was all neatly mown, with the obligatory contrasting stripes.
Set them in an Earthlike world… but one that doesn’t have a moon to skim off some of the atmosphere, like we do. The atmosphere would be much thicker, closer to that of Venus. More atmosphere= more wind and less sunlight. Windplants would be the way to go in those situations.
As for a plant-animal hybrid, I want The Magical Meat Bush. It’s a tree, or large shrub, which bears steaks of various cuts on its limbs. Let’s see you complain now, vegetarians!
