Who’s politics do you back?
Bonus points: Why do you back them?
I vote “none”. I don’t like to encourage that sort of behaviour.
Another “none”.
Back when I was just a wee sprat, I was tangentally involved with city politics in my home town. This was at the level of party hacks and ballot-box stuffers. As I learned about how political parties work where the rubber meets the road, I have no respect for any part of their apparatus.
New Democrats provincially, NOT Conservatives federally (i.e. undecided who I want other than Conservatives).
Don’t forget that this is de facto an international message board
I consider myself a small-l libertarian, but I don’t support the party, or any party. Excessive party-tribalism is one of the problems with our republic.
In order; “None”, “the Democrats”, and “to hamper the Republicans”.
Democrats because they are the closest to my beliefs.
Will never vote for a Republican.
I hate the GOP, hate them completely. So, someone else.
I vote for the Democrats because, in the US, they are the party whose policies most closely resemble mine. In theory, I might have voted for a nice, old-time New England Republican, had I lived there at a time when they were relevant. But the GOP was effectively captured by reactionary radicals about the time I reached voting age (during the Reagan Administration).
The Democrats have drifted pretty far to the right in my lifetime, too, but somebody has to govern, and they still seem to want to do it in a non-crazy way.
I’m mostly anti-GOP, but I don’t specifically back anybody. I am unaffiliated.
I’m a Democrat. I’m not really liberal and don’t care for some of the more liberal policies (esp. gun related) but they most closely match my beliefs socially so whaddaya gonna do?
I voted for all of them except “none”. More is better in the political stage.
Eh. They’re all fairly crap. If there were, like, super moderate libertarians I would support them. I believe in targeted, efficient regulation of the economy to allow free markets to work best (correcting for market failures) and think that a government that spreads itself over a large variety of projects and tasks is doomed to inefficiency and failure. I think we need a smaller government, but not the let’s-get-rid-of-all-government that the Ron Paul crowd supports. I’m super into personal liberties and rights. I believe in a less interventionist foreign policy, but not a non-interventionist one. I think our enemies can be defeated mostly through trade, not war (the more access North Koreans, Iranians and even the Chinese have to things like cell phones and international media, the better for us and the worse for their government). I think gay people should be allowed to get married and smoke pot. I want less taxes, but I don’t want to get rid of income tax - I’d prefer pigouvian taxes for most things. I want a strict separation of church and state. I believe in almost unfettered free trade.
Basically, I want limited (not nonexistant) government that does a few things very well and mostly leaves people the hell alone.
Democrat. I have voted for Republicans in the past, though none for president. I do regret my vote for John “Boss Hogg” Engler for governor. Since then, Republicans have morphed into the Raving Loony Monster Party and I will never vote for a Republican again for any office. I might be more sympathetic to the Greens, but as it stands right now the only responsible vote is for Democrats. I put it this way- imagine the US is like a giant ship with two propellers. The Democrats are in one engine room, furiously stoking one boiler to get the ship to go left and the Republicans are in the other engine room, working just as hard to get the ship to go right. The Greens, Libertarians, and other third parties are like kids running around the deck with pinwheels. They can run and jump and yell all they want, but they have no effect on the ship’s direction.
Republican, but only insofar as one dog turd might be less offensive than another, but it’s really the Tea Party branch of the Republicans that have me fuming.
Exactly
Officially, I am registered as “independent”.
Come election day, I usually consider the Republican candidate to be the lesser evil.
You asked two different questions:
What political party do you like the most? Green
What is your political party? Democrat
…because on election day, it’s really only between Kang and Kodos.
I mostly vote for Democrats, but I can’t stand any of the parties as parties. Useless bloody loonies, for the most part: more interested in political one-upmanship than actual governing. The GOP has been the worst by far for a while now, but the Democrats aren’t exactly dependable, either.
