Arab nationalists and al Qaeda are certainly two different things. The nationalist movements have been quite secular thrugh the years and have been largely responsible for raising the status of women in their societies. Some al Qaeda components aren’t even composed of Arabs.

I have never seen any active support for any terrorist group, including the IRA or Basque separatists, though I recall having seen posts where someone said they could understand their point of view, though not agreeing with it.

There are many Christian conservative Dopers, even some hardcore Evangelicals. But AFAIK, no Doper has ever outright advocated the political agenda of Christian Reconstructionism – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Reconstructionism – or argued flatly against the separation of church and state (though there’s plenty of sniping about where to draw the line), or tried to defend the psychotic world-view of Jack Chick.
