What restaurants do women prefer?

In my other thread I pointed out that most men prefer BBQ joints and while some women will go there, it doesnt tend to be there thing because of the food and atmosphere.

Some people mentioned though that coffee and tea houses have more women. Its where women come in large groups but rarely men and when men do come its usually with a woman. Plus women seem to like quieter places with different menu options (especially lots of salads) and no tv screens.

HERE is an article about what makes a restaurant more “female friendly” Ex. small portions and low calorie. Also the article mentions people opening up “female friendly” steak houses and sports bars.

So I’d like to ask you all, is there a place where you see more women go to?

I live in an urban area with LOTS of dining options, so by your description, this is the kind of place that immediately comes to mind:

Sweet Butter

I see that they just recently expanded their schedule to serve dinner (and they do have BBQ Ribs on the menu) but at it’s heart it’s a brunch/pastry/salad/omelette place.

Did you notice that that’s a Slate article and the tongue is very firmly in the cheek? Take a look at the last line:

SHe had a catwalk; STK has ads that spotlight the legs and lips of the women who are supposedly the restaurant’s target customers. If anything stirs up a woman’s appetite for a piece of meat, it’s seeing another woman being treated like one.

Oh wow, I just now read that. The idea that that article describes "what makes a restaurant more ‘female friendly’ " requires quite a rarefied reading of it.
In any case, on the topic of the OP, my consistent experience with women over the years has been that their favorite restaurant is called I Don’t Know, Where Do You Want To Go?

That’s odd; my experience has been that different women like different types of restaurants because they are independent people with their own lives and feelings.

Put me down as skeptical.

I will buy the idea that of those who prefer BBQ joints, a majority are men.

I confess that the two women I spent the most time with were really indecisive/accomodating (or played really indecisive/accomodating people on TV). If the subject wasn’t something they had a strong opinion about it was like pulling teeth getting them to say what they preferred - they druther defer to me in those cases.

As a woman, I believe I speak for all women. My preference is a restaurant where the servers don’t get too chummy, the food is good, and the atmosphere is pleasant. Bonus points if it’s not too expensive.

And the hand soap in the restroom has to smell nice.

I have spoken!

And there’s a hook on the back of the restroom door to hang your purse on while you pee.

And here I thought those were for coats!

I guess there’s a general expectation that people will be taking purses into most mens rooms too.

That’s a pretty big demographic group of 4 billion. There are some preferences here and there to work with but you won’t find general answers on what they all like.

But back to your question. Any place that allows pie eating contests.

I would also add “clean”. The place needs to be clean and ideally devoid of insects.

I thought they were for the convenience of purse-snatchers.

Yes its Slate but I think it makes a point. Women like lots of vegetables, low calorie, but some good deserts.

It was also interesting how someone had make a steak and bbq joint to be female friendly.

What would women think of a type of reverse-Hooters with good looking male waiters wearing short shorts.

With overpriced garbage food and dirty beer lines like normal hooters? Id assume they’d hate it as much I hate hooters.

Supposedly 92% of strippers are women, and of the remaining 8% I’d assume many work in gay strip clubs. So the market likely isn’t large.

I think Whitney Cummings said the male version of hooters should have men walking around in suits, carrying briefcases and showing off their perfect credit ratings.

Personally, I like the Sahara and the Atacama. Good quality sand in the former, especially.

The only point that article makes is that the restaurants it’s mocking are about as much use at being appealing to women as those stupid “Bic for HER” pens Amazon reviewers had so much fun with.

Devoid of insects, mold, “evidence” of prior usage, and no sticky floors!

I’m picky. Very picky.

Suits? Hell, no! They’d be walking around in aprons, with vacuum cleaners and toilet bowl brushes.
