What reward (if any) awaits female suicide bombers?

I have to admit that what I’ve heard male suicide bombers have to look forward to after the fact may not be that accurate (a field of virgins, etc.), but what are female suicide bombers supposedly rewarded with for their service?

[voice of experience] I’ve often wondered that myself, as male virgins aren’t quite the greatest prize ever. [/voice of experience]
:o

I understand the idea of Paradise as promised also involves endless food and drink, so mayhap they’re promised some abbreviated kind. I hope it’s not some horrible misogyny like they get to be the virgins for the male suicide bombers.

They get to drive cars and wear bikinis.

I’m not a muslim scholar, but I’ve read statements from those who are. Those who promise Paradise for killing innocent people are badly misreading the Q’uran.

 Neither are female ones when you get right down to it.

A question I have asked many times. The answer that sounds most correct is that a woman is the Queen of the 72 virgins of her husband. Another answer is an old Egyptian joke that involves a woman who falls into a truck of bananas. I presume they were pulling my leg with that one.

Yeah I thought you got the virgin reward if you die in a holy war/jihad - I guess it depends on whose definitions of holy war you are going to go with to see if suicide bombers count.

I just finished reading the latest Newsweek about female suicide bombers. It seems that they are promised to become “the purest and highest kind of angel” or words to that effect.
It sounds a bit lame to me.

(Thinks back many years) I could not agree more! But we probably won’t solve that particular double-standard in this thread…

And “the purest and highest kind of angel”?? What a ripoff - is there supposed to be some sort of angel caste system in Paradise?

That’s the way it struck me as well. The guys get to eat, drink, and screw. The girls get to . . .what?

I think it’s more about getting out of their current life, not what they get when dead.

There’s an old WW II era joke in which Adolf Hitler says “We cannot be defeated because our soldiers are absolutely disciplined and obedient. Watch!” He snaps his fingers and an enlisted man enters the room, and on Hitler’s orders jumps out the 23rd floor window to his death. Snaps his fingers again and another enters and is again ordered to his death. When he snaps his fingers the third time, the visitor can’t stand it and graps the soldier midway to the window and says “Stop! How can you just throw your life away on someone’s command like that?”

Soldier replies “You call this living?”, twists away, and jumps.

“Get right down with it.”
Heh

As far as I know, the reason why people become suicide bombers is usually not because they are “promised” something in heaven after they die. The reasons are more complex than that; they are political, not theological. Of course, there may be something promised to female Islamic martyrs after their death, and it would be interesting to learn what it is, but we must still keep our focus on the fact that this is not the reason why there exist female suicide bombers.

This is what Islamonline has to say about it:

“As for women and the blessings they will have in Paradise, it was stated that they would be prettier than houris, and except for men having houris in Paradise, both men and women are equal in the blessings they will enjoy. Regarding having more than one husband, no hadith has stated this whatsoever; it is against the nature of women and the modesty women enjoy”.

Oh yeah?

I’ll tell ya…If it was in my heart to become a bomb martyr, and some moolah was trying to feed me with bullshit about the after life that awaited me, I’d come here to the Dope first and see if anyone could get me a cite. Yes, I would.

Male or female, it doesn’t matter. It’s a dirty job but someone’s gotta do it!

Whores, houris, moolah, mullah, lets call the whole thing off…

Just thought I’d point out that, while many Moslems undoubtedly read the passage about 72 virgins as a literal promise for the faithful, many other Moslems believe the prophet Muhammad was just using a ready metaphor to express the idea that Paradise will be something phenomenally, wonderfull blissful.

And then of course there’s the whole “‘houris’ is just a mistranslation for ‘raisins’” notion. I guess women like a nice handful of raisins just as much (or just as little) as guys.
