What shall we call the latest Bush scandal?

It’s becoming increasingly difficult to believe that among Bush, Cheney, Tenet, Rumsfeld, Rice, and Powell, nobody knew that Bush was using forged evidence that Iraq was trying to get uranium from Niger. So what are we going to call what may be the biggest Presidential scandal in American history?

WMDgate: isn’t that a cryptic Microsoft extension? “There has been a fatal 10E exception to WMDgate.exe”

Weaponsofmassdestructiongate: Could you say that again, Miss Poppins?

Weaponsgate: bad name for a scandal… but a rather nice name for an online fantasy RPG, actually.

Nigergate: “niggardly” makes people uncomfortable enough

Yellowcakegate: Oh, yeah, the yellowcakegate, right at the end of peppermint lane. Maybe we should appoint a special subcommitte of the Lollipop Guild?

Personally, I like “Iraqgate.” Because, you see, Bush Sr. was involved in Irangate. It’s too bad that nobody else in the family was involved in scandals that lend themselves to that kind of naming. You know, like BCCIgate, or Floridaelectiongate, or Kickyourwifeandkidoutofthehousegate.

Personally, I like to call it “Just another load of bullshit.”

“So what are we going to call what may be the biggest Presidential scandal in American history?”

Over dramatize much?

It might be just me, but I usually associate scandal with sex :smack:

Deliberately misleading the public in order to overthrow a country?

I suppose it’s overdramatic compared to, say, the Spanish-American war, but I don’t think there was necessarily a scandal involved there.

Business as usual?

Call it what you will but quickly. The other bots need to add it to their program for maximum effect…

“Stategery plan for putting food on your family, otherwise known as what happens when a retard steals the presidential election”

I guess we could call it the “People that hate GW and wish like hell he would get busted for something” scandal.

Believe me, when and if a scandal is born, CNN will have already come up with a name.

Damned irritating I know.

I personally prefer "People that hate GW and wish like hell he would get busted for something"Gate.

Duh.

What shall we call this scandal? I say we save time and effort, and just call it “The Bush Administration.” Or does “The Bush Regime” have a better ring?

Does it have to be [something]-gate? That whole “gate” construction’s starting to look a little threadbare. I long for the days of the “Iran-Contra Affair.” Now that was a name. Whenever the newsbots said that, I always half expected them to follow it up with “a new novel by John le Carre. In bookstores now.”

Puuuleeeaaase, not another “gate.” That word has run its course.

Whatever name is chosen should have the word shinola in it.

If the current rumblings about the Bush Administration are true, I see no reason to believe that any other Presidential scandal would come anywhere close to it. If Watergate began as a “third-rate burglary” and ended in Presidential resignation, then how might Administrative war racketeering end?

Scylla:

*I’m not sure I get you. Do you mean that the accusations against Bush are “bullshit,” or do you mean that the administrations actions are “bullshit?”

I certainly hope you don’t find the well-founded concern of many people here (that the US public has been mislead by the Bush administration) to be bullshit.

Hey, at lerast the Democrats didn’t waste millions of dollars on a witch hunt to harass the president over some failed land deal. The Democrasts haven’t accused Laura Bush of being a murderess, and they haven’t circulated books and videotapes accusing the president of murder and rape back in Texas. The Democrats haven’t accused the president of treason, nor have they made veiled threats that the president had better not step on a militaty base if he knew what was good for him.

The Pubbies aren’t even getting half of the heat that they would dish out if Clinton had started the war with the same premises.

ContrivedBushScandal#23gate

Svinlesha:

Yes those concerns are bullshit. All bullshit.

Scyll, so let me get this straight:

Lying to start a war that continues to get American soldiers and Iraqi civilians killed = petty bullshit

Lying about a blowjob = earthshaking Constitutional crisis

Is that about right?

Just curious december; I really would like your opinion on whether the Niger thing is more or less contrived than Clinton’s impeachment.

Typical crap from Scylla.

Taxpayer funding of social programs in the U.S. = bad.

Taxpayer funding of social programs in Iraq = good.
