I stand corrected. Well, at least the Dems didn’t accuse Laura Bush of killing Vince Foster and then moving his body.
How about something with “scam” at the end? Remember Abscam? I also remeber a few preliminary references to “Iran-scam” before they finally settled on the “Iran-Contra Affair.”
So…“Iraq-scam?” 'Shrub-scam?" “WMD-scam?”
I’ve got it…“Saddam-scam.” If you say “Saddam” like “Sa-damn” it even rhymes…'Sa-damn-scam." Works for me.
A couple of minor distinctions here. First, The Laura Bush story is essentially true, even if the site you link to tries to exaggerate its significance. The Vince Foster story was a complete fabrication.
Secondly, there is no indication, even on the admittedly slanted link that Laura Bush’s accident was deliberate, only an (as far as we know, unfounded) insinuation that she got special treatment. Hilary was accused of being a deliberate murderer.
Thirdly, there is no national industry of Laura haters pimping this story in books and on radio on a daily basis. I’d never even heard of it before you posted that link. Even the mainstream media gave some attention to the Vince Foster legend, despite its total lack of any credibility. Ken starr even had to pretend to take it seriously in order to placate the rabid partisans in congress. The Vince Foster conspiracy still didn’t die even after Starr said it was bullshit. I’m sure if I did a google search I would find that the story lives to this day in some quarters.
Imagine if Hillary had actually killed somebody in a car crash after running a red light. Do you think she might have gotten a little more attention for that than Laura Bush did?
We can call it hind sight 20 20
That’s a pretty good suggestion, BeatenMan.
I’d a nevuh dun it ifn I’d a known I wus gonna get caught.
Huh? How is it hindsight when people are knowingly using forged evidence?
I’d vote for Bushscam, but that sounds a little too much like a porn site.
gobear, you’re actually defending Democrats?
Why is the sky orange?
Why is David Duke black?
What is all this furniture doing on my ceiling?
Why is that dog sleeping with that cat?
How about ‘ends-justify-the-means-gate’? This way, those that believe in that idea will be okay with it, and those that aren’t can be outraged. Everyone goes home (un)happy. QED.
For the time being, we can call it “the latest Bush scandal”. Not for long, most likely.
Because you’re into feng shui?
Should the assertion of the OP prove to be true (that the Bush administration knowingly misled the people to justify a politically expedient* war), I struggle to imagine a bigger scandal. Please enlighten me.
*and possibly illegal – the legality of this war was predicated on the threat to the US right?
We’re just friends, I swear. Even though we’ve had a bit of chow fun together.
If you read my posts, you 'll notice that I argue for what I believe to be right, not what suits my prejudices. I still think getting rid of Saddam was an excellent idea, but I resent being lied to in order to instigate a war. I’m old-fashioned enough to believe that honor and integrity are important ideals for national leaders to attain.
I prefer to think for myself instead of blindly following leaders merely because they are labeled “conservative.”
I just want to mention that with all of the blind partisan reactions surrounding this issue (and I will be the first to admit that (coming from the more Liberal side of the spectrum) this is something in myself that I must fight) that this particular attitude is one that we would all do well to emulate.
A noble and good attitude. I commend you.
Okay, time for me to expouse my ignorance.

Here are several cites as to the forged documents. Whether or not the Bush administration knew they were forged can only be guessed at,
Or maybe we could have gone with a Robert Ludlum angle: “The Scowcroft Directive.”
(Personally, I hate the entire “gate” thing, hence the parody. I do like “Iraqgate” vs “Irangate” though. But the best by far is “Saddamscam,” IMO. Diogenes, you are a genius.)
Well, in JC of M’s defense, let me say that you could probably draw a comparison to the Spanish-American war. There are some differences, though: (and please correct my history if I’m wrong.)
1.) No massive disapproval from the international community beforehand
2.) No actual scandal, in the case of the S-A war (wrongdoing, yes, but no scandal.) It remains to be seen whether Saddamscam will fully bloom.
3.) No master list of countries to invade one by one.
