…or the show should end with a giant “Whooooosh” flying over Homer’s head…
LOL.
I’m not sure if any of the Tracy Ullman scenarios are possibly, didn’t she sue them a few years back, trying to get a piece of the Simpsons pie? There might be some bad blood between them still.
What do those reference? (I’m assuming the “triple wedding” doesn’t reference anything specific.)
Question, first off. The last episode of the season a few years back had a E! True Hollywood story - type thing. On that episode, did we, or did we not find out that that Springfield was, in fact, in Kentucky?
I could be wrong on this but I don’t think so.
Anyhow, on the last episode they will set the stage for 2 Simpsons movies. All the voices are under contract for two movies. info
I think the movies should take place in two distinct places later on in their life.
Yeah but they did a different state for every time zone, or something. Either way, how can it be in Kentucky and have a beach? The mystery grows.
it was kentucky the first time i saw it, and Missouri the second. and where is West Springfield, which is three times the size of texas?
Hah! I counter-whooshed you. The understated expression of the obvious is a comic staple. Admittedly, my line would have been better if I’d said “I think they’ve done that already” but in any event, posting it immediately after the initial wise-ass comment was crucial.
Maybe you should go to France and see if you’ll pick up enough to get by.
We’ve recently covered the “Where is Springfield” question in GQ.
As to how the show will end, you can bet your last dollar it’ll never be cancelled mid-season. It would have to be absolutely dreadful before Fox pulled the plug on its only moneymaker. It’ll most likely be around even if the voice talents demanded hundreds of thousands per episode (maybe they get it now, who knows?). I’d say, “expect a spin-off,” but they’ve done that too.
I’m kinda glad I was wrong (or somewhat wrong), It was a bit of a let down for me to find out what state they were from in that manner. I think if we were to watch all the episodes over again, we could probably eliminate about half of them…
Get over it! Every fricken state in the Union has been eliminated. Period. The Simpsons live in the State of Hilarity.
That’s all there is to it.
I’d like to see something completely unexpected.
For instance. In the opening sequence Marge has just missed Homer every time for the past 13 or so years. Let’s just say she finally hits him.
Homer did get hit with the car already in the opening to one of the Halloween episodes.
Damn, curse the editing of reruns!
Personally I echo the htoughts of others here and say just have a normal episode
The thing I worry is its going to go on far too long and by the time its over no ones going to care
Sort of how x-files ended …
My vote is for a relatively normal episode, with one big difference …
Live Action.
The voice actors act out the script. I think it would be an appropriately surreal ending to have characters played by considerably older or younger people, of the wrong gender, and in many cases having the same actor play multiple roles.
And it would be nice to let the voice actors have a moment in the sun when we can see them.

I think it should end in one of two ways:
-
Some disaster is about to hit Springfield and nobody knows where to go or what to do. Homer, through his connections with The Stonecutters, Hank Scorpio and Mr. Burns, is able to wangle a deal to get the family frozen and hidden away in Scorpio’s new lair. Time-lapse to “Futurama” as Leela finds another set of frozen 21st centurions.
-
Bart figures out there are cameras everywhere and he gets into this sailboat, see - and he sails and sails and a storm hits him and he finally runs into the WALL OF THE GIANT TV SET HE’S BEEN LIVING ON ALL HIS LIFE!!
… or maybe they should just all run to the living room couch at the END of the last episode instead of the beginning.
Ned Flanders finally gets a new wife, and Rod and Tod get a new mommy - perhaps Ashley Judd comes back.
Comic Book Guy’s name is revealed (probably Angus).
Maggie pulls a Clarabelle and says “Goodbye, kids”
Camera pulls back on some scene revealing that nothing really changes in Springfield, or in the Simpson family.
SuaSponte, the cast is already making some live-action appearances reciting scripts, lyric-opera style. I like it.
That’s actually what inspired my concept. I haven’t seen all of the cast in other roles, but the ones I’ve seen have the acting chops to pull it off.
