I would quite like a car. It would enable me to get around this little [stunning in places] island, and I enjoy driving in general.
More so than the desire for a car is my desire for a bike. I have grown up always owning a bike. I don’t own one right now (the one I had was stolen) but I feel not whole without a bike, and I need the excercise.
I see the sword used by Gandalf in the LOtR films in a local shop and think - “I must have that sword” I will not be satisified until I have a sword, let alone Gandalf’s sword. it costs £240, but If I had the cash in hand I would not hesitate to buy it (it is well worth the price to own something so beautiful and magnificent as that sword)
Go with the car. That’s the best investment. Bikes can be purchased for much cheaper at second hand shops etc, and a sword is in no way practical. You’ll spend your 240 pounds, and then all you’ll have is something to display.
How the hell can you make price comparisons between a bicycle, sword and car? What kind of car is it youre looking at that goes for roughly the same price as a bike, assuming you’re making that comparison? Aren’t used bicycles about $30 in your area. might want to check the classifieds, i’m sure there is a good deal.
i just looked up ‘lord of the rings sword’ on ebay and they go for about $150 US, which is about 90 pounds. but shipping might be $40.
My bias is of course towards a bike. It’s less costly to own and operate than a car. A moderate bike ride will leave you feeling refreshed and active, while driving is simply exhausting (at least for me). A bike is a fun and pleasent way to get excercise, while driving has no health benefits.
Why not buy a scooter of some kind? You have the motoring capability of a car, and the out-in-the-air experience of a bicycle (without the healthful exercise, alas.)
Having said that, I can understand the appeal of Sharp Shiny Cutting and Stabbing Implements. I tend to buy knives, myself. Although there is that Renn Faire dagger I bought a few years ago and have had absolutely NO use for since.
I vote scooter! Vespas are so cool it hurts. Girls like 'em you know. Being a nice guy you would offer them rides. The girls would then have to put their arms around you…
Personally, I’d go for the sword. But that’s just me. I don’t like motor vehicles and I don’t enjoy cycling … so it would be handy, next time somebody says “Steve, why do you insist on walking everywhere? You’re a total freak, you know,” to have a sword to kill them with. But, as I say, that could just be me.
You love to have the sword.
You purchase decision should be based on whether you buy something for necesity, desire or passion.
Get the sword show it off to your friends, borrow a bike from one of them, stay in shape, date a girl with a car who likes men in good physical condition that have really cool swords.
