Thanks for all the great suggestions. I tried most of them out the other day - I called to my fish, and they did not come…
In fact, all they seem to do is skulk at the bottom of the pond and hide under the waterlily pot.
At the suggestion of a friend, the little one (fish #2) is now known as Pip. The rest are still nameless.
And get a half-bee to go along with the fruitbat.

I belong to the school of thought that you should never name a fish, because that’s a certain way to doom it to an early death. 
I’ll keep a close eye on Pip then. If he dies, then I’ll skip naming the rest, but so far, so good, he’s surivived 2 days of his new name.
Looks like I’m the only one to say…
