What side of the bed do you sleep on?

If you stand at the foot of our bed and face it, I sleep on the left side and my wife sleeps on the right. It turns out this exactly the way our parents slept as well. I’m curious as to whether there’s any particular trend one way or the other in this. What side do you sleep on, folks with SOs?

I sleep on the side closest to the door. I always get up first and usually go to bed last. I find it is the most logical way to do it. Left or right doesn’t matter as long as I am closer to the door.

Preferrably on the right. The passanger side.

I sleep on my side of the bed. <blank look>

Oh. I sleep on the (let’s see, face the bed from the bottom) on the left. But in our old house, I slept on the right. I can’t think of any good reasons for either choice.

Hubby sleeps on left, I sleep on right. Makes sense, because I usually get up to go to the pottie during the night and it’s closer. Was in our old house, too!

I sleep in the middle.

Both of my wives wish me to be instantly accessible for some reason or other.

LEft. I try to sleep on the right (I’m a firm believer in proper mattress maintenance) but I always end up on the left.

Sprawled across the middle… it’s great to be single.

Never have to wait for the bathroom, either.

Right. Because I sleep on my left. Have since first pregnancy, years ago. Before that, slept on the left. Go figure.

Middle, snuggled safe between loved ones.

I always sleep on the right side of the bed, to start with, but during the night I range over the entire area, and if I sleep with someone end up crowding them onto a corner while I sleep diagonally.

Even when I’m in a relationship, I really prefer to sleep alone, especially when I don’t feel good.

Always the left side. I like to face that way when I sleep, and I don’t like to be breathed on.

I don’t really have a side, I sleep basically wherever the hell I want to. Usually as the night goes on I find myself in exotic positions (both sexual and non :D) such as flipped around so I am facing the foot of the bed, with my face smashed against the wall, with half my body between the wall and the bed, or halfway off the bed entirely, or any variation thereof.

I sleep on the top.
Another single person. Although occasionally my cat will sleep on top of my chest but usually not for long.

I sleep on the right side (from the point of view of sitting up in bed).

I know a bloke whose chat-up line was “I sleep star-shaped, you better learn to tesselate

I sleep on the right when facing the bed, left when in it.

Does that mean you move over to the left when visiting our British or Australian cousins?

When in my very own dorm room top bunk, right smack in the middle. Because there isn’t enough room to sleep on any side.

When I go over to Eric’s for the night, or when I end up sharing a bed with someone on a trip, I always head for the side away from the wall. Psychoanalyze as you will

Always have, even alone, slept on the left side, and if I’m faced with a hotel which has two beds I’ll sleep in the left side of the left bed. Odd, as I’m ordinarily so conservative.

[slight hijack]I don’t have any idea how it happened but Saturday morning I woke up with my head at the footboard of the bed. I weigh 330 lbs and the bed is a full, so it’s not like there’s room for me to turn around. My S.O. now accuses me of having sleep dyslexia. I prefer to think of it as just another alien abduction.[/slight hijack]

… Umm… My futon is a bit small to say it has more than one ‘side’ to sleep on, but normally I wake up to find myself mirgrated into a corner. Top left, bottom right, doesn’t matter. I’ll even wake up with my feet dangling off the long end (ie: not the head or foot) of the bed, and my head hanging a bit off the other side.

Doesn’t even matter when I’m with the SO: one night I’ll be on the left, another night I’ll be on the right. That’s mostly determined by what side the alarm clock is on, though, and who needs it to get up in the morning.
