People who fuss about (adult) picky eaters are not-so-covertly control freaks frustrated that they can’t will others to like the exact same things they do.
uhmmm…they kind of hang slack? I’m not sure how to describe it, but Donald Trump’s are the exact opposite.
Women who have pictures of fancy shoes or dresses as their Facebook profile are very shallow gold diggers who are likely to be very snotty.
- Buying a new car more often than every 4 years = financial moron
- Leasing a new car that would be otherwise unattainable financially = financial moron
- Buying a house that you can “just barely” afford = financial moron
- Buying a house that you can “just barely” afford AND it’s an adjustable mortgage rate, piggyback mortgage, zero-down, or some other weird-ass loan that doesn’t make sense = BIG financial retard
- earning good money but not concerned about contributing to a 401k - thinks Social Security should do the trick! = financial retard
- Over-committing your kids to extracurricular activities at the expense of their education = douchebag parent
- Emphasizing sports over education to your kids = douchebag parent
- Emphasizing beauty pageants, cheerleading, modeling, or anything else that tells your kids that what’s OUTSIDE that’s important, over their education = douchebag parent
- Your kid is a bully, a thief, or a liar, and you’re right up in the teacher’s face, defending them? = douchebag parent
Here are snap judgements I make while driving every day:
SUV + GOP themed bumper stick + Virginia tags= absoute shit driver who is going to take 20 minutes to try to parallel park in a space 3 truck lenghts long
any car + Maryland tags = absolutely shit driver who will speed through residential streets and probably throw some litter out the window along the way.
Plus, if I see a person littering that is all I need to know about that person, they are and will forever be worthless in my eyes.
^ Agreed.
Rightly or wrongly I assume…
a woman who has more than two cats has some severe mental or emotional problems.
a person who regularly attends church is a self-righteous, self-serving jerk, and thus should not be trusted.
an obese person is lazy and has no self control.
a person who speaks using incorrect grammar is uneducated.
a person who wears a Bluetooth earphone is simply wearing it to garner attention.
a person who is out of work for more than six months is lazy.
a person who is on welfare, food stamps, unemployment, and/or SSDI is abusing the system.
a woman with a hyphenated surname is an angry, bitchy feminist.
a person who majors in criminal justice, sociology, psychology, business, women’s studies, or political science is dumb and clueless.
Same here. If I see someone littering, chances are that our entire worldview is so fundamentally different that there is no use even trying to be friends.
To me, littering is one of the most powerful indicators of someone’s true character. Much more so than many of the other items listed here. Many of the topics listed here may reflect on something that the person may have done in the past (tattoos) or they may reflect how they view themselves (need an expensive truck or the right clothes to fit in), but littering expresses their true thoughts on their fellow man. They genuinely just don’t care about anyone else other than themselves. It’s them saying “screw you” to everyone else for their own convenience.
I’ve almost started a whole thread about this before. I guess I am not the only one.
I’m curious, what majors do approve of?
I assure you, the angriest, bitchiest feminists don’t hyphenate.
I don’t get it. What’s weird/odd about that?
Littering has the very rare 100% ACI (Asshole Correlation Index). Calvin Trillin offers a new way of measuring pretentiousness
If a stranger/new acquaintance/etc. and I are watching the same thing (TV show, play, speech, etc.) and I find that we both react (laugh, groan, etc.) to the same cues that the rest of the audience ignores, then I have a smart, quick-witted individual on my hands that I would like to know better.
People who like animals, laugh easily, and don’t take themselves too seriously are probably decent human beings.
When your bumper sticker says “Unless your a hemeroid get off my ass” <— YES spelled exactly like that - I will assume that you probably can’t read street signs either and most likely barely passed your written G1. Not one, but TWO spelling errors and you actually purchased this AND stuck it to your vehicle? Moron.
Valid or not, I do make the following snap judgments.
- Conservative Republicans are just one drink away from hurling racial epithets, and are to be avoided
- Black Republicans have self-esteem issues, and are to be pitied
- People who are against gay marriage today would have also been against my mom and dad marrying each other in the '60s, and are not to be trusted
- Non clergy Christians who wear their religion on their sleeves have lost the ability to evaluate circumstances on their merits and to think critically, and are to be feared
I’m curious about why this is.
A person whose favourite movie was released within the past year probably gets a new favourite every time they see something halfway decent.
The people I have met who have majored in criminal justice, psychology, political science, etc. did not seem particularly interested in their area of study. Many admitted they had no idea what to major in upon completing high school, and chose their major because they thought it might be “sort of interesting” or whatever. I admit I am somewhat contemptuous toward people who do not have a strong, intellectual desire to study a specific subject area, and choose their college major as a result.
I’m curious about this one. So in your snap judgement, the only “correct” black people are Democrats? Black people are somehow wrong and lacking in self-esteem if they have conservative values? How about black Libertarians?
I’d be judged all sorts of wrong ways by many of y’all!
Baseball cap on backwards - have done that.
Psych major - check.
More than two cats - been there.
Cigarette smoker - been there done that too.
Haven’t always locked my doors - oh, the horror.
Sometimes speak using grammatically incorrect syntax - I deserve to die.
Have read a book in public - I am so sorry for forcing you to assume I’m a self-centered asshole. I promise to either stare blankly at my shoes or faff around with my smartphone next time I’m in public, just to make you feel better.
I bought a used van in July that has a Christian bumpersticker on it. That amuses me (and amuses my friends) so I’ve left it there.
Guess what - it’s highly unlikely I give a shit what you think about me unless I know you real well, so we’re cool.
Although this is not this thread’s topic, I’ll answer your questions.
I didn’t say anything about Democrats. I said black Republicans have self-esteem issues. There is no “correct” political affiliation for black people.
Black people can have conservative values*, whatever that means. Heck, I’m fiscally conservative. There is no logic, reason, or excuse, however, in my book, for a black person to desire affiliation with an organization that continues to embrace and dog-whistle to those who have an animus against blacks, who (a) truly believe blacks are lesser than others solely because of their race, and (b) applaud and support legislation that make it difficult for blacks (and other minorities) to achieve financial security, social equality, and educational opportunities.
I’m sorry, but there are already too many Alan Keyes’, Michael Steeles, Shelby Steeles, and Clarence Thomases in the world who don’t have the sense to be embarrassed for the things they do, say, or write, for what they represent, and for their disgusting and inexcusable Stockholm Syndrome-like responses to just about anything white conservatives espouse to the detriment of black people.
- Are you, perhaps, referring to today’s conservative values of promoting bigotry, xenophobia, and misogyny?
