I don’t know if it’s based on a real song, but Shazam said it was “Popcorn” by The Muppets…which I know see is the same as the title.
As you might guess from the title of the video, it’s called “Popcorn” by Gershon Kingsley.
Let me be a little more clear; I knew the song was entitled “Popcorn.” What I didn’t know was the name of the original artist. I knew it wasn’t a Muppets original because I have vague memories of hearing it in the 80’s.

The one I remember from the 70’s was by Hot Butter. (FYI, context-click the video and choose “Copy video URL at current time” to start it at a specific time).
