What song is this?

Please help me find who sang this song. All I remember is this verse:

WELL IM BLUER THAN BLUE
SADDER THAN SAD,
YOUR THE ONLY LIFE THIS EMPTY ROOM EVER HAD,
LIFE WITHOUT YOU IS GOING TO BE
BLUER THAN BLUE.

Thanks

Michael Johnson’s “Bluer Than Blue” - #12 in 1978.

The song is called (unsurprisingly) Bluer than Blue - Barry Manilow (not sure if he originally wrote it, but if not, it’s probably him that you remember hearing sing it.

From the aptly named The Michael Johnson Album.

Manilow did a version on his 1996 release Summer of '78, but, if it was released, it didn’t chart (in the US, at least).

I stand corrected; must just be me that can only hear Barry singing it in my mind’s…err… ear.

Egad man! Get thee some heavy metal to drive it out!

Or at least some Led Zepplin

Robert John also performed the song. John also had a hit with The Lion Sleeps Tonight (Wimoweh), which was also performed by The Tokens.
