Mine has been the theme song from “The Magnificent Seven” for a while now. But I’ve got a new phone so maybe it is time for a new ring tone. I’m thinking that maybe it ought to be the sound of a Ferrari engine.
The only thing like a song I had was The Hamster Song, which was cute, but I prefer sounds so it didn’t last. For a very long time it was the phone ring sound from “24.” The sound needs to catch my ear in potentially noisy places so it needs to be distinctive for me. So I use the Close Encounters tone thing. Those five tones in a row cut through any ambient noise and go straight to my ear.
When my wife calls its: Love Song by Cure.
Family and Friends its: Waiting Room by Fugazi
Anybody else its: Tahitian Moon by Porno for Pyros
I used to have the theme song to “the Office” as my only ring tone. I still get sick to my stomach when I watch that show, because 75% of my calls are from work…

One friend of mine gets Lovers Theme.
In October, I switch them all to things like Halloween 1978 and the “They’re all going to laugh at you!” sequence from Carrie.
I don’t like whole songs as ring tones. So I tend to cut out 5-10 seconds from a song as my ring tones. Usually from the intro or a good instrumental part (don’t want lyrics).
Currently I use a clip from Es geht voran by Welle:Erdball. I’ve also used acouple of Yazoo dongs like Don’t go and Goodbye 70s which also have nice instrumental parts.

.
That’s a nice choice.
I’ve seen this before but never bothered to try it. I tried it last night, it wasn’t as easy as it sounded but I figured it out eventually. I made the Carmina Burana one and another for my BF’s ringtone (a song he likes). Hook up my phone, sync it and neither ringtone worked. A missing file error with the first and the second was too long. If there was anything in the instructions saying how long to make it, I missed it.
Sister- Rebel Rebel
Mom-Ball and Chain
Husband-There Goes My Heart He’s a big fan of Enuff Z’Nuff, so I had little choice…
BFF’s-Various.
my notification tone is the boss scream from legend of zelda.
text tone is the coin sound from super mario.
ring tone is the jogging theme from mike tyson’s punch out.
My usual tone is “Manhattan Skyline” by David Shire, specifically 1:10-1:26. My old tone for Airman was Cake’s “Mahna Mahna” but it’s now “The Entertainer” by Scott Joplin. My relatives get “Toccata and Fugue in D Minor.” I’d change it to “The Empire March” if I had the time or inclination to edit it down.
