I can’t believe no one mentioned the (mostly) instrumental, Wipeout. Can’t for the life of me remember who recorded it, but I cannot resist that song.
And yes, latin music is infectious, though I own very little of it. My dancing days are long past, these days we listen to the words instead of the beat.
Also, Mirror in the Bathroom and Twist and Crawl by the English Beat, just can’t be beat. In fact their entire album, “I Just Can’t Stop It” is one of the best dance albums ever.
“Ballad of a Dead Soldier” by Tupac
“Violent Mood Swings” remix by Stabbing Westward (the version that’s in the movie Clerks)
“46 and 2” by Tool
“Spit it Out” by Slipknot
“Negative Creep” by Nirvana
“The Game” by Disturbed
“Block Rockin’ Beats” by Chemical Brothers
“Trip Like I Do” by Chemical Brothers and Filter
To just name a few…there are, of course, many, many others.
HA!! Revenge! Remeber their fake English accents? They SO wanted to be Duran Duran. So cute. I wonder if they laugh about those days or deny them . . .
Anyhoo, my rump starts a-shakin’ when I hear Brick House by the Commodores. Three drinks and that song and I’m “lettin’ it awwll hang out”
Whenever I hear Every Little Thing About You by Raul Malo I become suddenly convinced that I can do a sexy tango. I’m always proven wrong, but in my head I’m a smouldering vixen.
Mid-30s?? Well, at least you think I’m mature… heh, truth be told I’m only 18! I just happen to have good (or bad, depending on your viewpoint) taste in viewpoint.
Yes, wipeout! How could I forget that song?
Oh, and I dance to Weird Al’s “Yoda” also- although I get my groove on even more to “Star Wars cantina”!
Merla- who is about to live HER college days for the first time.
How odd! I thought exactly the same thing! I work on my feet all day with a radio blaring in the background. Today I was exhausted, barely able to lift the brush one more time. Then Safety Dance came on.
It’s SAFETY DANCE! Whoo hoo!
UnwrittenNocturne, you like Apoptygma Berserk and Wumpscut too? Great bands. Let me add House On Fire Assemblage 23 (which playing right now, and making me twitchy) and Headhunter (don’t remember the artist). Oh, and One World, On Sky, Covenant.
I’m a big fan of any sort of music you’d find on Broadway accompanied by a big dance number. The cover of “All That Jazz” for Chicago has been playing on VH1 lately…naturally, every time it comes on, I promptly jump up and choreograph a whole routine for myself and the imaginary people dancing with me.
I miss my dance classes terribly.
Otherwise, I’m a fan of any music that’s vaguely Latin-sounding. Fun!
