60 bucks for one fucking season of a show that’s been out forever (TOS, TNG)? NINETY DOLLARS for a season of Voyager? They want 15 bucks for two stinking episodes! This is just apalling.

Fuck Paramount and the greedy fucks who set the prices for this shit.

$50-60 is about average for a season of a show. But $90 for a season of Voyager? That’s a ripoff.

Well, figure the die-hard fans (all six of them) will pay anything and most viewers with taste wouldn’t touch it even if it was free, so there you go.

Everybody Loves Raymond – 23 bucks
Sex and the City – 36 bucks
Battlestar Galactica (full season, not half) – 45 bucks
Family Guy – 38 bucks

I’ve included a lot of genres here, scifi, drama, comedy, animated…not one of which approaches the cost of ST. All prices are from Amazon, and none of them save BSG is over 40 bucks. Over 50 is just ludicrous.

Try buying a season of Myth Busters. I’ve missed some of the shows so I thought I’d just buy the season. Your lookin at over $100 a season IIRC.

Get him a prostitute instead . Here in vegas 50 bucks will buy you a 50/50

Hello ?

That’s f-ed up.

There are no words to describe the complete astonishment I feel that someone would actually pay 100 bucks to watch a season’s worth of TV, especially if you already paid 40 bucks a month for the cable service to deliver it to your house the first time.

F-Troop: $11.99.

This is the reason I don’t own any Star Trek series DVDs or any other single season TV show DVDs for that matter. I only buy the complete series sets. The only TV shows I own on DVD are entire series (Monty Python, Prisoner, Blackadder, Firefly) with the exception of 24 where I did get the first 4 seasons for about $20-$25 each on sale (I still haven’t seen the 4th season). I desperately want to get ST:TNG but the prices are absolutely ridiculous. I did pick up the 20-disc 10-movie set at a good price though.

Just to clarify, I didn’t actually buy the DVD’s I just looked up the price because I wanted to.

I wonder if anyone actually buys them at that price.

Tens of thousands of people I would imagine. That is why the price remains where it is. What on Earth is your issue with this? This is how supply and demand works.

The pricing makes sense to me. A movie is usually $20 for about two hours of entertainment. A season of a TV show might be 22 episodes or more.

That said, sometimes I shop at a website that has a [hint] deep discount, and usually save about $10.

I bought the full TNG set because I’m a total Trekhead, but yeah, they were a little steep. I had complaints for a different reason.

And ya know what else? The $50-$60 buck sets are discounted. When the sets of each series came out a few years ago, they, too, ran around $120 or more per season.

I finally got the TNG sets at W-M for about $50 each.

Sir Rhosis

Although Paramount originally offered TOS only as two-episodes-per DVD individual DVDs, they later re-released the series as three season sets.

As for ST:TNG, 60 bucks is a bargain compared to what it originally was. When the DVDs were originally released, Paramount didn’t set a MSRP. Usually $100 per season.

Sure, it may seem expensive now, but look at it as an investment in your sex life.

Once a babe sees the entire season on your bookshelf in near-mint packinging, she’s as good as putty in your pocket.

Here’s a bargain down here in Australia, PAL country. It adds up to US$31 for each season.

Of course Star Trek is more expensive than other shows on DVD. Do you have any idea how much it costs to build all those starships, and staff all of Starfleet across the galaxy? Sheesh!

I just saw where I work this week the entire STAR TREK: THE ANIMATED SERIES for about $45.
