Rosie apparently assumes the entire country enjoys her. Is there anyone enjoys her lack of talent, biased viewpoints, baby talk, inability to sing and childish attempts at humor?
Haven’t been around here in a while, and I don’t know you very well, Cynical1, so I’ll give the benefit of the doubt this time and not immediately assume you’re a moron.
Let’s hope there isn’t a next time, hmmm?
Thanks for the link, Max. I’m not a Rosie fan; have only seen about 10 minutes of one show–and that was plenty.
That wasn’t even an interview; it was an ambush! Sheesh, was a crass wench. I don’t care how passionate her views on anything, she put words in Selleck’s mouth, wouldn’t let him finish sentences, imputed her own meanings into what he said…disgraceful.
As far as the show, from the snippet I saw, it was too saccharine and “all Rosie”. Since it’s her show, guess there are enough fans to support the egotism; hell, I can’t believe Rush Limbaugh is still on the air, either.
Blech.

The same thing could be said to you, ChrisCTP.
Archer
Yes, I really did enjoy her show and her career as a VJay on MTV when she first started out. But the Tom Selleck thing changed everything for me. I am probably more sympathetic to her views than to Tom’s, but I think he handled his views with dignity and she was very abusive.
ChrisCTP: What’s your problem? Do you think that a father is unimportant if you have enough nannies or money? Or is it that you think that guns go around on their own killing people? Either way, I really don’t feel like I’m the moron in this conversation. Take your “Benefit of the doubt” and kindly shove it up Rosie’s ample Ass!
:wally
First: Let’s not get started on putz-smiley abuse, eh?
Second: No, that’s not what I said. In fact, I didn’t say anything at all, except that a statement such as that is clearly an invitation to a debate surrounding single parenting and the topic in question, as I understood the OP, is about Rosie O’Donnell’s TV show.
But, hey, what do I know? Clearly, I’m new to this.
This thread isn’t about her show, it’s about Rosie herself. She’s a single parent and has shown to be very hypocritical about her stance on guns. With that in mind, I don’t think Cynical1’s comments were very innappropriate.
This is the Pit so… fuckers!
ChrisCTP: As a card carrying cynic it is my job to point out hypocrisy wherever I see it. No, I don’t have as many posts as you. Your sarcasm concerning those numbers comes across as nothing more than some kind of holistic hand-job.
The OP commented on the show and Rosie herself. The thread evolved into a discussion of her politicization of her show and her hypocritical stance on guns. Not guns in general. Not single parenting in general. Just how those things apply to her situation. Spend a little time reading and a little more time thinking and maybe your post count won't go up as fast but the quality might. I think you defend her because you secretly want to defend every short, fat, woman who comes down the pike without a care for logic. My wife (Who is a short, fat, woman) does the same thing regarding Rosie. Hell, I did the same thing for a while but I listened and understood.
Rosie has an "I must use my powers for good" complex. Nothing more. So she's a single mom. Big fucking deal. There are lots of single moms out there. So she loves her kids. Big fucking deal. Everybody loves their kids. She doesn't live in the real world. She lives in a movie star fantasy world where she's the single most important resident. Why should her opinions about the real world matter.
SPOOFE Bo Diddly: Thanks for the support.
Chris, there i sa world of difference between rosie as a single mom, and me& you as single moms.
See, we met a man, had a baby, things went to hell, we raise baby alone.
SHE cant find a man ( I think she is gay anyway) so she uses her money and fame to find and purchase. She then hires teams of nannies to feed, bath and change the diapers of the little ‘toy babies’.
She sickens me.
Those babies will never have the love of a father, she made sure of that - ON PURPOSE. Their dad didnt leave them, or die - they were BOUGHT by a single woman. Disgusting. If she really loved those kids, she would have let them be adopted by caring couples who waited YEARS for the chance for a baby to love. If she wanted to buy a baby - GO TO CHINA, or africa, save a baby who needs saving.
And I am totally for gun control, I thought her stance was admirable - till I heard her bodyguard is armed. Hypocrite. You cant have it both ways… but she must feel she has to protect her boughten babies with deadly force. Hey! Maybe if she hadnt bought them, they wouldnt be in danger!
When I saw that people magazine cover I almost puked! Hardest working MY ASS. What about that one who was married to woody allen? She adopted tons of kids from underprivledged countries - saved them basically. Then she actually cared for them herself.
If Rosie is the standard we set for motherhood, god help us all.
Ok
::blinks in awe::
Kelli, that was one of the finest rants my poor, tired eyes have seen in many a day!
You nailed Rosie’s hypocrisy and egotism right to the wall. She usually flies well beneath my radar, but she’s so ubiquitious it’s impossible not to know something about her. What I knew bothered me, but I couldn’t put my finger on it.
You not only put your finger on her hypocrisy, you flattened it with a mallet! She is posing as the Nurtering Single SuperMom Of The World, while not inhabiting any reality most of us would recognize.
Salute!

FTR, I don’t disagree…I used to, but since this whole gun thing, my view of Rosie-as-Mom has changed. I just resent the idea that kids absolutely need to have a traditional family to be productive, intelligent grown-ups, and Cynical1’s statement made me feel as though that’s where this thread could potentially go…whether he meant it to or not.
Gee, thanks veb!
As opposed to the hard-hitting, straight-talking journalism People Magazine usually puts out.
Speaking of her, does anyone know what’s up with her lawsuit versus that radio station in Portland? Rosie 105 (owned by the Intercom radio group) is getting sued by her trained attack-lawyers for stealing her name. Yeah. In Portland. In the friggin’ ROSE CITY!! How dare they call themselves, “Rosie 105”? Anyway, I haven’t heard much about it lately…Anyone have an idea?
Ah, I get it. With that in mind, your earlier comments make more sense. Sorry for getting on your ass.
Anyway, to expand on Kelli’s rant, I think Rosie knows the minimum requirements she has to fulfil in order to SEEM like an “ubermom” to the general public. She pulls off just enough to seem amazing from the outside (“I’m a single mom, I adopted a kid, I hate guns, and I have a crush on Elmo!”), while on the inside she’s completely devoid of substance.
No problem, Spoofe. Shoulda made myself more clear. Sometimes I forget that there are three or four people left on the planet who don’t know me.
