He still exists, but he’s no longer the household name that he was in his Fox days. His current company has a revenue of 2.1 million before expenses, while when he was at Fox he was pulling in a $2.5 million salary.
Similarly Carson will still exist in one form or another, but I doubt that he’ll ever be as influential as he was before.
If you read the article detailing what has happened to his company, he kind of did though. It has been a failure. His company still exists, but read through the Wikipedia article and it sounds like there should be a “sad trombone” sound effect after every other sentence.
As I mentioned in another thread, he tried riding the never-Trump train for a little while, probably figuring there was a few bucks to be made by pandering to what he assumed was a growing movement of anti-Trump conservatives. When he realized that said movement was a) not very big and b) not all that interested in being pandered to by him, he shifted gears and became a full-on MAGAt.
Off-topic, but did I ever tell you what a great job you did on the screenplay of Maleficent? Turning the villain from Sleeping Beauty into the good guy was certainly a challenge, but you rose to it admirably!
So he released a videotaped statement yesterday, as reported by Reuters, criticizing the US political system and media. My favorite quote from the article:
“Where can you still find Americans saying true things?,” Carlson asked. “There aren’t many places left, but there are some.”
And I’m sure one of those places will hire you soon, so you can continue saying all your true things.
Actually, to paraphrase someone else’s quote about another someone else*, “Every single word out of your mouth is a lie, including ‘and’ and ‘the’.”
I turned the sound off, but I saw what other people had said. What was that behind him? A sauna? Didn’t his face look puffy as if from crying? Lastly, was he broadcasting fromhis mother’s basement…?
“Tucker…? That better not be pot that I smell burning down there…!”
FWIW Keith Olberman says he will be paid by FOX but only if he makes no political commentary. Would explain why he hasn’t said anything since he was fired.
Yes, Tucker was widely loved because he spoke Truth to Power. (do I need to insert the appropriate smilie here? Well OK then. )
Moreover, Tucker appealed to the “working class” because he shared and amplified their fear and derision of The Elites. “Elite” can be defined as “anyone with appropriate training and experience who dares to attempt to base policies on evidence and good science, and in doing so annoys or inconveniences me”.
A non-compete clause is pretty common. How long is his contract for?
Meanwhile TMZ is saying Newsmax is willing to hand over programming of the station to him to get him on board. As a news source I trust TMZ more than many but that’s not saying a lot.
