That’s what I was thinking. If that hadn’t come out, I could totally beleive Trump making him the VP candidate. Now? Trump might dangle the nomination in front of him, as part of some humiliation ritual, like he did with Mitt Romney.
What if… Tucker told Fox news that he wanted to come clean… that on his next week of shows he was going to tell the truth about how Fox pressured and demanded that hosts sucked up to Trump, lie about Dominion and otherwise just promote garbage news. All for the sake of grifting the rubes and making money. That Fox really was afraid of losing viewership to the further right wing up and coming networks. That he (Tucker) KNEW that Fox was spreading lies, but was told to shut up and lie or lose his job.
So Tucker was going to be a whistleblower. So Fox shitcanned him.
And now he’s going to tell the world what a despicable pile of lying crap Fox News is, and how they promoted and helped with an insurrection based on a lie.
I have a hard time seeing OAN or NewsMax picking him up. He just cost Fox News 3/4 of a BILLION dollars. Fox can absorb that. If Tucker went on OAN or NewsMax and added to their legal woes with more false claims, a judgement or settlement of that size would bankrupt those networks. I just can’t see them taking the risk although they’d love to get his audience.
But it’s also 2023 in MAGALAND so who am I to think they’ll do anything rational.
Hard to believe Carlson pushed those election lies without consent of TPTB at Fox. Maybe the messages saying he hates trump are what he’s actually being ditched for.
Kind of reminds me of when CBS wooed Letterman away from NBC with a fat contract. Shortly afterwards, CBS lost a bidding war against up and coming Fox Sports for NFL rights. Letterman joked about CBS executives saying “Well, we just don’t have that kind of money anymore.”
Maybe Fox just decided they don’t have that kind of money anymore. I’m sure that Tucker will land on his feet somehow.
This is my thought as well. Carlson did not display enough fealty to Trump in those private messages. Can’t have that known and still be on the network - he has no credibility any more - the rubes supporting the Golden Goose will go somewhere else.
And yet many Republican leaders publicly detested Trump before he steamrolled the competition in the 2016 Republican primary. I think if you got them in a truth chamber, they’d tell you they hate him as well.
Believe it or not, the Post is reporting that it was his comments about Fox management that did it. Don’t they know it’s every employee’s prerogative to bitch about management?
He started his own TV network. Originally it was GBTV, and only online and paid, but he renamed it TheBlaze in 2012, which is now is available on cable and satellite TV. He later merged with another conservative TV network in 2018.
