What the heck happened to Charlotte Church?

I was listening to Voice of an Angel the other day and wondered what Charlotte Church is doing these days. She’s grown up now. I wonder what her latest CD is?

So I looked her up on Amazon and hmmm, looks like she’s moved over to pop music. Well, not a huge surprise. Wonder how she’s received. She’s still got that voice after all.

So I looked her up on Wikipedia and learned that she’s turned into quite the little skank, apparently. Breaks my heart.

So what happened to her?

Yep, she’s had a couple of hits in the pop charts on this side of the pond, and is now hosting a rather dismal chat show. She’s rapidly moving into the realm of ‘famous for being famous’.

She’s also involved with Gavin Henson. It’s said both their careers have suffered as a result.

Yes, she grew up.

And grew out a bit too - she looked a bit of a chubber on her recent chat show.

And she is so gorgeous.

I will say that her singing of that old English hymn on that CD (and Amazing Grace as well) is quite shallow in terms of emotion. But then, she was 11 or something when she did it.

Charlotte Church-the Lindsay Lohan of the UK. (cept that Lindsay can’t sing, but then, can Charlotte act?) Both with so much potential…

She made an unfortunate comment about how Americans need to “get over 9-11.” Her popularity has never rebounded in the US. As Tina Fey commented, “That’s okay, because she’s gonna get real fat!”

Wow-and didn’t the Brits lose more people(civilians) in that attack than any in the past?

GF needs to grab a clue or two…

Is being a skank worse than her previous so-ridiculously-adorable-you-could-just-wring-her-little-neck incarnation? One could argue that it’s a lateral move.

Not disputing this, but what I specifically recall her saying, within 6 weeks of 9-11 in early November 2001, about the U.S.:
*
“Everyone there has to relate themselves to it. They are like ‘Yeah, my neighbor’s dogs’ owners’ sister’s dog was involved, but he got out just in time. It was a bit sick. People overdramatise and lose perspective.” *

In response to the U.S. (and world) reaction in late fall 2001 to the 340 NYC New York firefighters who lost thier lives Church was quoted saying: *“They went from here in society to celebrities. They are even invited here to present television awards, which I just don’t agree with.” *

She later calimed that the comments were “distorted” but did not deny making them.

Also, She famously sang for John Paul II and yet made fun of Benedict calling him a Nazi on her show this summer:

What I think happened is that she took it into her head to break out and rebel against her angel image – too much/too tired of being a “good girl” she wanted to define herself and not be defined as the ‘angel’ with the voice. Although she did it in some of the worst ways a celebrity could possibly do it - She succeeded in what she (conciously or not) set out to do.

Or she was a pampered 17-18-19-20 year old girl with 100 million pounds and lives like any immature, entitled, fabulously wealthy, and wierdly raised kid would live
