Talk about a band with a downward trajectory!! I was a big fan of KC’s first two albums, “Employment” and “Yours Truly, Angry Mob”. These are great albums, particularly Employment. I was less enthusiastic about their next three albums, but still like them quite a lot.
They recently released their sixth album, “Stay Together” in October 2016. It’s awful. Just bland pablum crap that sounds like a hundred other bands, and not a noteworthy song in the whole bunch. It also represents a huge shift in style and substance. Wow, talk about falling off the cliff.
OK, rant over, but I am very disappointed in this steaming pile of dung.
After they were banned from CAF for the second time, I feel their lack of international competition really showed, but they did win last year’s Premier Leag…Oh, you’re talking about the post-punk revival band? Never mind. I preferred Franz Ferdinand.
Ricky Wilson had a side career as a judge on The Voice UK for a while (very successfully too - his team won the last two series) but seems to have gone back to devoting his energy to singing with the band. But I agree that the new stuff is dull.
Just found out Busted are back as well with new and different material. It’s not bad, but it’s not as much fun as their previous work.
I get all those post-Oasis “let’s pretend we were in a gang at school” Brit bands mixed up: Franz Ferdinand, The Fratellis, The Kooks, Kaiser Chief, Arctic Monkeys, The View et al. I think they’re actually all the same outfit, they just change the name as a marketing device and assign each band one good song each.
