What the islamacists have done to South Park is worse than 9/11.

When discussing Thetans, the preferred spelling is “thilly.”

Its Comedy Central, moron.

The series’ Wiki article says that all episodes are available on DVD, and the DVDs are out through the 13th season. I have at least the first several seasons at home (I know I’m behind in buying but don’t remember where I left off) and don’t recall any of their controversial episodes being missing from those, though I could be wrong.

Clearly, they obliterated Stanley’s understanding of the Constitution.

This seems a bit of a tempest in a teapot to me.
The 1st Amendment restricts the federal government from (among other things) abridging the right to free speech. It does not apply to private entities like Comedy Central.

If the federal government of the USA (through the FCC, I assume) had forbidden Comedy Central to air these episodes, then THAT would be a problem.

Otherwise, it is merely a cowardly act that empowers religious fanatics.
Heinous, but legal.

I’m amazed and amused in equal measure by people who think language like this is any kind of appropriate way to react to this situation.

Stan Shmenge reacts like this to every situation. It’s what makes him MORE AWESOME THAN YOU[sup]TM[/sup].

You’re right to point out that it’s a moral rather than a legal question. But I can’t help wondering. What if they’d censored a South Park episode because somebody had burned a cross on the programming director’s lawn? Would you be quite so complacent about it then?

In the good old days, anti-abolitionist mobs would smash up the offices of an abolitionist newspaper, tar and feather the editor, and ride him out of town on a rail. Now, that’s feedback.

I was doodling and wound up drawing Mohamed, only I made the pic have crossed eyes. I found that was enough to handle my outrage over the situation.

I been amaaaaazed and amuuuused for so long it’s not truuuue…

But I do wish Stan hadn’t crossed the genocide line, cuz I was cheering him on til then.

I read the thread title and thought “Well that’s a pretty moronic thing to say”.

Then I read who started the thread and thought “Well that’s pretty much par for the course”.

I didn’t know Mohammed was a pedophile sheep fucker. I learn something new on the dope every day!

It’s kind of strange how casually people want to leap to genocide though. There’s about two hundred degrees of escalation you skipped right over.

Does that mean he only has sex with ewes?

I think you mean lambs.

I’ve been known to indulge in immoderate outrage myself from time to time, but what with America currently running multiple gulags, and the Supreme Court having decided that American citizens can be detained indefinitely without due process as long as it’s done in a war zone, I can’t get too worked up about this little inconvenience for the first amendment.

I saw a documentary recently about the troubles The Smothers Brothers had with the censors at CBS. Not only was it scandalous back then to criticize the war, but they created a hellstorm just by booking a guest who might sing a song that was obliquely critical of the war in Vietnam. They couldn’t even show a sketch making fun of CBS’ censors. We have it a lot better now. I mean, sure, stay on the bounce, but don’t throw all your outrage behind this. Most citizens have seen free speech in worse straits, and it’s not the worst crisis in our constitutional rights at the moment.

Shouldn’t the OP read *What Comedy Central has done to South Park is worse than 9/11. *

Comedy Central did this, not anonymous religious nuts.

The most interesting man in the world… drinks Dos Equis.

And yet this same thread was started because of your outrage over limitations on freedom of speech.

I tend to think of Stan as the younger, much more stupid brother of Maddox. All of the outrage, none of the wit and intellect.

Actually, he doesn’t always drink beer, but when he does, he prefers Dos Equis.

I was also impressed by how quickly the OP segued from being outraged over the destruction of the 1st amendment to advocating for the destruction of specific religions. Apparently, he’s never managed to read the 1st amendment in it’s entirety. Which is kind of sad, seeing how it’s only a single sentence, and all.

Then again, maybe he’s trying to demonstrate the perils of losing the 1st amendment. “Without this critical Constitutional provision, you all have no protection from assholes like me!”

As for Comedy Central, as I recall, they didn’t air the April Fools episode from season 2 for years and years, because of fan backlash over the cliffhanger fake-out. If the network caves that easily to internet nerd rage, it’s not really surprising that they buckled in the face of people who blow up buildings.
