Tony Shalhoub.
He’s certainly Better Than Neil.
Agreed.
Ooo, me likey.
But I’d still rather have some Silicon Valley gazillionaire/sf fan put up whatever it takes to get the ball rolling for another Firefly TV series or movie(s).
I assume that now he’ll pop out somewhere in a Joss Whedon project.
He’s done SF and detective…How about moving on to another type…Western?
How about a modern Sky King? How about Mr. Lucky?
He didn’t get a ten dollar solo, though.
How about Jim West?
Yea, he’s a little long in the tooth and soft around the middle to be an action hero. An anti-hero, maybe.
I could see him in a reboot of “The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.”
Bruce Campbell’s still available…
Speaking of shows that didn’t get an ending…
I’d like to see him show up in one of the DC universe shows, but can’t for the life of me decide as who. He’s a big nerd, though, so I bet he’d have fun with it.
Speaking of “long in the tooth and soft around the middle”…
Don’t get me wrong - Bruce is great and I’d love to see him in more stuff. But he’s not really action-hero material these days.
He’s done Western. Firefly was a western which just happened to have spaceships.
Spenser for hire might be fun. Sort of like Rockford, but with more humor.
Sure, but isn’t the whole point of comic-book superpowers that physique stops being a big concern? The number-one movie in the country features a superhero who could kick your ass, and said superhero is played by Elizabeth Olsen, and I’m pretty sure you could kick Elizabeth Olsen’s ass. And I don’t even know you!
The whole point of the old INCREDIBLE HULK show was that Bill Bixby would tell people not to make him angry – they wouldn’t like him when he’s angry – and they’d of course disregard this, since he looked about as scary as Tom Holland. That’s when Bixby, who’d done the lion’s share of acting in the episode as the problem-solving do-gooder, would call it a day and let his superpowered alter ego briefly get the spotlight. (You know, the way Victor Garber now does on LEGENDS OF TOMORROW.)
Later this year, DOCTOR STRANGE hits theaters; he can, apparently, levitate stuff and do mind-control magic. You know, like Luke Skywalker – who can still be played by little Mark Hamill, who is now older than Alec Guinness when he was playing Obi-Wan. Given his powers, who cares if he’d lose a straight fistfight to James McAvoy?
Now I’m pondering whether there’s a decent comedy film script to be done about aging superheroes past their prime. Then you could get Fillion, Campbell, a few others, maybe a cameo by Adam West, and play to their “soft middles”. Sadly, you’d probably end up with yet another “Space Cowboys”/“Wild Hogs” quality effort.
You know, in July, both Greg Grunberg and Dean Cain turn fifty…
If hes doing Wonder Man that should keep him busy. I was thinking that since he loves all things Whedon that he’d just join the Agents of SHIELD cast, but Wonder Man is a much bigger deal.
And sure, Wonder Man is lame, but Fillion plays lame in a way that makes it awesome. IT’s still lame, but it’s awesome lame if that makes sense.
Joss Whedon’s been blowing hot and cold about a sequel for years; apparently there’s some material and songs written but Whedon has been too busy with the Marvel work to do much about it. I know Fillion and NPH are still very keen on doing it. Very unlikely to be feature-length though, I would have thought.
Firefly was close enough. How about cyberpunk?
