What video game would you make?

I have wanted for so long to make a TBS PC game about the internal struggle for power in a newly-Communist country just after the Russian Civil War. Any strategic or resource-driven elements would only be there to create conflicts between rival factions and personalities in the government.

Republic: The Revolution promises something similar, but I’m 90% confident any real intrigue in that game will be lost as the designers focus on the graphics engine.

I could write a rather ugly version in QBasic, but… well you know, it would be an ugly QBasic game. So I guess I’ll have to wait until Visual Basic becomes free or something.
…So anyway, what game would you all make if you could somehow convince a company to finance you?

Afghanistan Attack

Its the only concept where you could have men on horses fighting against men in tanks. The cites are more or less in a circle with mountains making it hard to make interior moves, but there would be an option where you could try it. Lots of different factions, so you could have lots of players or lots of levels of difficulties. Its the new rage.

Of course, this might be outdated by the time the game comes out, so how about a two part game? Iraq I and the sequel Iraq II?

You are Emperor Palpatine.

You have developed wormhole technology to open a gateway to the conquest of new galaxies.

One galaxy contains humans, Klingons, Romulans, etc.
The galaxy is not united into one consolodated government.
It is already divided, so conquer it!

128-bit graphics, yeah baby!

A real sniper game. Not silent Scope…which was close, but it’s too much like a “shoot as many as you can” game. I’m talking sneaky bastard stuff. Crawlingn through the bushes…try to be quiet, before charlie hears you, get your round off and disapear before they know what hit’em.

A football game,

everyone I have played has crap for blocking. Lets get a freaking clue people the tackle DOES NOT let the back block the defensive end to pick up a blitzing outside lineback.

…but with a light-gun!

Basically, the idea is, you go and explore the world
and do things. While you’re doing this, the controller
works like a normal FPS-style motion control. Forward
makes you walk forward, left and right make you turn, etc.
But then a monster sneaks up on you! So you pick up the light gun and point it at the screen. The video game
system somehow notices this, and the controls change.
Now left and right strafe, and fwd/back look up or
down. So you and the enemy run around and you aim the light gun at the monster and hopefully pop caps into his zombie butt until he lies down and goes “Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhrr…” for the last time. Then you put the light gun down and the game notices this, and you’re back to normal mode. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Basically, Resident Evil first-person mode (like in the Director’s Cut version) but with the additional trick of the light gun. I like this idea because I think it opens up a whole lot of new possiblities. Like, having the character move while they’re shooting. Like, having to track a fast-moving enemy around on-screen. Like, being able to take cover behind stuff. Etc, etc.

Done well, this could be really fun, and add a new dimension to the whole “survival horror” genre.

I would love to see the old arcade game Dragonslayer and Space Ace come out on PS2.

I hope I got the names right I’m talking about the two games that came out in the mid 80’s that were cartoon animated and not computer animated.

You can buy them for your DVD player.
