Is Assassin’s Creed like a Zelda/PrinceofPersia/Okami/Darksiders kind of game? Or not? I don’t like Metal Gearish stealthy games, but love action-adventure as a genre.
This looks way out of place in this thread (I’m only a very casual gamer) but since you ask, I’m currently trying to win the Championship on Moncao Grand Prix for the N64, and simultaneously (in a different save file) struggling to progress in the career mode. It has just come to my attention that the car handling is significantly less forgiving in “Career” mode (which runs across as many seasons as you want to play) compared with “Championship” mode (which is just a single season fight for the title). It’s probably the most realistic Formula One simulation of its time on any platform, and better than many of its successors I daresay.
I just got a pair of Xbox controllers for my PC and am playing Lego Batman with my son.
Besides that, I’m finishing off Mass Effect 2 (which I finally got around to playing) and playing the Rise of the Samurai expansion for Shogun 2 Total War. As a rule, I don’t buy new games - they’ll be on sale on Steam in a few months anyway, and I can wait.
I’ve also just started Mass Effect 2 though I get the feeling that it is better on a PC.
Also have the new Bio Shock but it plays like the original except it’s nice and bright.
Kicked off Bioshock: Infinite yesterday. Is it just me, or is the mouse crazy twitchy?
I have a little more of Far Cry 3 to go - I have to get someone on a helicopter to rescue them. Don’t think there’s a lot more to do after that.
I’m a good chunk through Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Enjoying it a lot. Worth buying, especially since you’ll find it on sale often.
If you’ve tried the mouse sensitivity slider and didn’t find a good setting, you can adjust the range of the slider with one of the tweaks here.
ETA: I’m playing Bioshock Infinite, Civ V, and trying to decide what game to play next. =)
Playing lots of TF2. Not sure why I still like the game so much.
goldmund, you’re awesome. I’ll check those out after Easter festivities!
Windows 7. I’ve tried playing it but it says it will only work with XP.
I haven’t tried Compatibility Mode because I’m inept when it comes to computers and didn’t even know that existed.
I just bought NHL '13 this afternoon. I’ve been playing the Be-A-Pro mode for about an hour. I like it so far, but I’m wary. Most sports games have such a weird hump to them. If you play on Amateur you never lose, if you play on Pro you never score a point. And in most Be-A-Pro modes, you start of basically sucking ass until you build up stats – like in NBA2K12 … I was a 6’6" power forward picked 6th in the draft and I couldn’t dunk.
If I want to suck at sports, I’ll go outside and suck at sports. If I’m a Vidiot Be-A-Pro, I want to be a hero, ferchrissakes.
Wat.
Still playing a lot of DOTA 2 and the occasional round of CS:GO with a group of folks who are way more serious than I am.
Just started a co-op game of Resident Evil 6 with a friend the other day and had a lot of fun - I’m hoping to play more of it soon.
Played most of the way through Dishonored on a Redbox rental over spring break. Really, really neat game.
Getting my ass kicked at Don’t Starve from time to time.
I’ve been spending a fair amount of time on FIFA 12. I think I’ve just about gotten the hang of being a central defensive midfielder. As Jack Batty noted with NHL, it seems to take a ton of work.
The secret to NHL is to start in the minors. Play a season in the OHL, WHL or QMJHL, and you build your player up and have fun. My guy scored 142 points in the OHL and led Kingston to the Memorial Cup. He was then drafted by Colorado and while I can’t dominate the NHL the way I did the OHL, I’m doing very well and it’s a good mix of challenge and success.
Star Conflict. I can’t beat the rush I get from flying a spaceship and blowing shit up (while dodging lasers and missiles to boot)!
Assassin’s Creed doesn’t really fit in either. I’d say it’s far, far, far closer to Prince of Persia/Zelda than Metal Gear, though. There are several bonus objectives that require you to be patient and stealthy, but aside from a small handful of missions you can basically one-man army everything if you so choose.
I bought Mass Effect 3 a couple of weeks ago, so I’m replaying Mass Effect 1 to refresh my memory before I start it.
Finally got bored with Battlefield 3 after close to 1200 hours and bought Skyrim. I’ve put ~20 hours on it so far and I really like it. It’ll hold me until Metro: Last Light is released.
I just beat FTL. I was playing it on normal mode, and as many people have noted in the FTL thread, it’s a little too dependent on luck. I had barely made it to the fifth level of the game after playing almost non stop for two days, and then suddenly one play through I got some nice weapons and augments, and went on to beat the game.
