Nah, dude, they’re aaaaaaawesome.
Huh, no love for Carolina Style BBQ.
It’s a quirk of the Jewish holiday seasons (it was desired that Yom HaShoah was near Passover) and the confluence of the Hebrew and Gregorian calendars–it’s not the same day most years, since Yom HaShoah is linked to a Hebrew date.
If that makes you feel any better.
The Frisco Roughriders (minor league baseball) did have a home game that night, and they do frequently have post-game fireworks. This would be visible from at least one of the common flight lines into DFW.
For some reason, I don’t have a reply-with-quote button. I’ll do this with cut and paste.

Idly perusing the charts, it appears you Kansas Citians are really serious about your barbecue. Notice the names of the approach fixes for this Instrument Landing System approach chart at KC International. (Non-pilots, they’re the 5 character names, followed by “INT”. Normally they are meaningless 5 letter words)
Not much cause for celebration then

It is easily the best . . . as long as you pick the right Carolina Style. I’m a South Carolina mustard-based sauce man. I’m hoping to have some tonight.

That cracks me up. Even I didn’t know we were that serious about it.
Let me know if you head this way. I can suggest some of the best places to try.
You’re on, Gary T.
I’ve been (tentatively) asked to fetch a new plane for our flight school this fall. It’ll be up thar in Kansas somewheres*, and I’ll be delivering it to the DFW area. Although not exactly in my path, I suspect I can conjure up a reason to drop in on Kansas City to try out this famed barbecue (Honest, Boss… the engine sounded rough and I figured there’d be good mechanics in KC. I’ll be home tomorrow :p)
If it happens, I’ll pm you for a list of places.

*Kidding. Done this before; I know where the Cessna factory is.
