What was the worst and the best advice your parents ever gave you?

My Dad wasn’t exactly Polonius.

Worst advice:

Don’t travel; you can’t afford it.

Best advice:

I think you should finish your engineering degree before going to med school.

I’m grossly oversimplifying here.

Best: “Don’t get married yet.” (Dad)
Worst: “Get married.” (Mom)

In all honesty though, I can generally rely on both my parents to give pretty good advice.

Worst: Going to art school is a waste of time, no one needs designers. All people who studied art are unemployed. She then threw out my portfolio when i was at school so i could not apply.

Best: I was 9. If you ever want to go to college, you better get good grades because we won’t send you.

Worst opinion out of my mom’s mouth “However entertaining you find him now, he’ll be gone in three months.” Working on year number four.

Best advice (that I can remember currently) “Visit every school before you decide which one to go to” My top choice school took me thirty seconds to hate when I stepped on campus.

Best advice from mom and dad: “Lead the fourth highest of your longest and strongest suit.”

Worst: You can’t do anything. Anything you can do is so insignifant as to be totally worthless. YOU are totally worthless.

Best: Nobody will ever want to do anything for you. You have to do everything for yourself.
