What was this cartoon? And what animals were in it?

I hope that someone can help settle a debate that has been raging in my office all afternoon.

Several of us were talking about childhood cartoons. We remembered a Japanese one from the late 60s or early 70s that involved three aliens who had come to Earth, taken the form of animals and then travelled around in a large wheel, doing various good deeds.

My questions are:

(1) What was the name of this cartoon?

(2) What were the three animals? We all agree that one alien was transformed into a horse and another into a rabbit. However, we can’t agree about the third animal and different people have variously suggested a dog, a duck and a monkey.

Any information would be greatly received, especially as there’s a $20 bet riding on the outcome.

I can answer this.

(1) It was called The Amazing Three.

(2) The animals were a horse, a rabbit, and a duck.

I don’t why I remember this show. I saw it when I was very young and for years thought it was some strange dream I had.

As Strongbad says, "Japanese cartoons are weird, man!

Thanks NDP. That’s just what I needed, and all in less than an hour!

One’s childhood memories are really quite incredible. As soon as I read the name of the cartoon, The Amazing Three, I could even recall bits of the theme music. I obviously spent far too much time in front of the television set as a child.

Best of all - I now get to claim the $20! A nice touch to round off the working day.
