This was a black and white anime cartoon which appeared on TV in the late 60’s or early 70’s. It starred a cute little boy and a cute little talking (female?) rabbit. Does anyone know what this was called?
The talking rabbit threw me for a while, but I believe you’re remember “The Amazing 3”, which originally ran in the US from 1967 to 1968. It was the creation of Osameu Tezuka, who also created “Astro Boy” (“Tetsuwan Atom”), the original “big-eye” anime series.
You can read all about it here:

If we’re discussing half-remembered cartoons, what anime-style cartoon was it that starred a little boy and a huge dog running from some agency that wanted to capture them? I think they may have been looking for the boy’s parents. I only remember an episode where the boy is on the side of a cliff, hanging on a tree or something, and the dog has to go get help.

Thanks Guy! No wonder I remember it being drawn “in the style of Astro Boy”! I don’t remember the duck or the horse at all. Too bad they don’t sell episodes on tape.
Belle and Sebastian? Small dark-haired boy, large white dog, running from the police… it was on nickeloden for years starting in 1984. http://us.imdb.com/Details?0283710
Boom. That’s it. Thanks, elfkin. Strange how I can remember a show that I watched when I was three in such detail that I remember they were looking for his parents and running from the police, huh? The mind is a funny thing.
