After shacking up for 25 years and two kids later, we got married in St Lucia. Wedding song was played by some random steel drum band. It was actually pretty cool all of us spinning around to the music.
“I’ll Stand By You” - The Pretenders
Still makes me bawl like a tiny, tiny child every time I hear it.
“Be My Life’s Companion” by the Mills Brothers.
We had a morning wedding with a brunch afterward. There was some atmospheric music, but no dancing.
And my first wedding was at a Church of Christ, where dancing is frowned on.
Never Gonna Let You Go, as introduced by Sergio Mendes. We got married six and a half years after the day we met, so I agreed with her feeling that the title had some resonance for us.
The band did a pretty good job covering it.
Call to the Post.
We had our reception at Trackside (OTB at Arlington Park).
That was said tongue in cheek, by the way.
Borino Oro by Boban Markovic. I couldn’t stomach the idea of the traditional “first dance,” and I knew this one would get everyone on their feet, especially the Balkan dance troupe friends whose pig roast was the event that set our relationship in motion anyway. It worked!
We didn’t dance; we skipped.
“God Bless Our Love”
Have never danced. Went straight to bed.
“Breaking up is (Hard) to Do”!
