What were you THINKING?

I don’t know, DrDerp for instance has complained endlessly in ATMB about the Pit. Yet he always comes back to it.

Trolls do all sorts of stupid stuff.

The thing is, Becks definitely isn’t a troll, but she complains about swearing in the Pit nonetheless, which is ridiculous.

Actually I didn’t mention the pit at all.

I was talking about certain nasty mouth posters who go too far. For no good reason I can think of.
It only serves to make them look bad.

Then what are you on about? This is the Pit we’re in after all. Is it about swearing in non-Pit threads? Are we supposed to not call some motherfuckers “motherfucker” or give a hearty fuck you to someone (non-posters) or something we despise? That wouldn’t be the board I’ve learned to love.

If you have a beef with MrDibble, argue it with him. Cut this crap of trying to rally support for your complaints.

And stop the disingenuous posts like “I wasn’t really complaining about profanity in the Pit” or “I wasn’t really complaining about moderation in ATMB.” Your purpose in transparent, just own it.

Let me take a guess based just on what I can read - is some tiresome biddy whose posts I don’t see having ‘the vapours’ about language in the Pit?
Why, bless their motherfucking heart!

:+1: Got it in one.

Complaining about swearing in the Pit is no more ridiculous than complaining about complaints in the Pit. It’s the Pit; there’s going to be swearing and there’s going to be complaints.

Aww. You’re such a fan of Beckdawrek you read everything I write on the Dope.
That’s quite the accomplishment.
Even though you’ve ignored me.
Wow!
I’m impressed.

Thanks so much.

let’s see if they see this post

So many swear words phrases lean heavily on females to be insulting yet You cocksucking motherfuckers want to gatekeep those insulting to men? How bout all you mother fuckers suck cock in hell. Bastards.

Now I’m running afoul of @Aspenglow’s worthy complaints, but I can’t help it. So it’s complaints all the way down?

< Boo!! Hiss!! >

It could be, but we tend to hijack ourselves along weird tangents.

I do not consent.
I am not a citizen. I am a straight dope nationalist.
I am not being a jerk. I am being an ahole.
The Supreme Court ruled I can be a jerk in Marbury v Madison.

As a citizen of Neverland, I claim diplomatic immunity! Clap if you believe in fairies!

Sorry. Rulez is Rulez.

I didn’t make 'em.

I have @Cecil_Adams cell number(his phone, not his abode) if you want it

I generally disagree. While I do agree that they have become cliched, they also express the gut reactions of the respondents in a rather fairly efficient manner.

I suppose a poster could respond.

“I observe that like many other motions that the Trump lawyers have presented this is wholly without merit and this fact is realized even by the Trump team but it is only being presented as yet another tactic in hopes of extending the court proceedings beyond the election.”

But “delay, delay, delay” is much shorter and more easily skipped and so takes up less of your precious time.

Now of course the argument could be that everyone already knows its a delaying tactic so you shouldn’t bother posting about it at all. But there is an emotional release and feeling of community that comes with expressing the thoughts that come into your (everyone else’s) head even if its just “here we go again.” If we eliminated all statements that were obvious that everyone knows (e.g. Trump is an idiot) we would probably lose the majority of the content and leave people feeling stifled unable to express what their reactions their common reaction upon reading a given post.

Similarly “---- all the way down”, “Schrodenger’s ----” and “every accusation is a confession” are also rather efficient shorthand for what could be longer ideas. That either acknowledges the circular nature of an event, the ambiguity of an even, or the inherent hypocrisy in a statement event.

If there was on Cliche that I would like to get rid of it would be the perenial “He’s still breathing” responses in the “How has Donald Trump pissed you off thread.” It is entirely without value. It in no way expresses a reaction to a previous post, nor is there any value in pursuing it further. It just a isolated retread of an obvious joke.

I get it. I do. But a girl can dream.

The instances that chap my hide are where one person posts essentially what you lead with (although not quite so dorky). And then person 2 responds “delay, delay, delay.”

If you look at the actually occurrences, they aren’t being used as shorthand to explain something. They are following posts where the delay was described, or something was described as turning to shit. And someone else decides that a cliche is needed. That’s not saving any of my time.

I won’t claim my time is precious, though. If it were, I wouldn’t be whining about trivial matters here.
