It’s more akin to “6 million is less than (a potential) 5.35 million” with the addition of the “the Israelis should know better, of all possible people” factor, I suspect.
Sorry. It was not my intention to disobey your instruction. I think of “fuck off and die” as a generalized expression of contempt akin to “fuck you” or “eat shit”, not a literal wish for the person’s death. But I guess I fucked around and found out.
The equivalent once happened when I was trying to get a small printer to accept the cartridge I’d just put in. Turned out to be a country code sorta problem between machine and cartridge. The printer tech guy I was on the phone with (a bump up from the original call-taker) walked me through the steps into the bowels of the software to change the machine’s ID code to accept American-made cartridges. Done! And…
Still didn’t recognize the cartridge. The tech guy and first call-taker were pondering why when I said, hey, why don’t I turn the printer off and back on?
It worked.
ETA: Yes, I know the discussion has moved on. Just wanted to get to post my little story. You may resume where you left off when I interrupted.
The Pit is where that rule is pretty much suspended except for the wishing death part, as we’ve seen. It’s where people who need to blow off steam and scream in reaction to stuff in other forums can let 'er rip. A safety valve.
ETA: It’s also more relaxed about off-topic hijacks – witness the long digression into ancient computers we’ve been seeing, which would be shut down or shunted into its own thread in another forum as derailing the topic at hand.
One reason I enjoy the Pit is precisely its more freewheeling spirit.
I realize this. But I don’t like it. Only juveniles call nasty names and bully people.
Adults have civil conversations. If it gets heated. Back yourself up with facts not wishing death or calling someone possibly racist or belittling names.
And, yes being put down because you’re older is racist in my opinion.
