What were you THINKING?

I am super concerned about the next four years being full of unhinged drivel coming from someone who is not remotely a normal, well-adjusted adult human being–but @Der_Trihs doesn’t really concern me.

Maybe - just maybe - if idiots like Der Trihs haven’t been playing this same exact tune since at least the Bush years, then when us normal people said “holy shit, Jan 6 and the false elector scheme were REALLY BIG DEALS and massive violations of our norms”, people wouldn’t have tuned it out.

You can say that the opposition are literal genocidal Nazis when they aren’t anything of the sort only so many times before people stop listening.

Der Trihs is The Boy Who Cried Hitler.

Perhaps, but let’s not act like this doesn’t happen on the other side, and for some reason, their chicken little accusations don’t seem to lose traction even when repeated ad nauseum by their Presidential Candidate, instead of by a member of the SDMB.

Did you succumb to the urge to interrupt a perfectly good liberal circular firing squad??

Cool story bro. Since I’m not interested in improving Republicans’ communication with moderate voters or with ways they can increase turnout, I’m not sure why you think I’d find that information relevant (or how you think I could be alive in the year 2024 and not already know that this is how Republicans behave).

Did you just call Der Trihs a Liberal? I’m sure he’s very offended, in his mind you called him a Diet Fascist.

I think that’s giving him entirely more credit and relevance than he has. If Der Trihs didn’t exist, it would be necessary for conservatives to invent him. And given their success at inventing cat-eating Haitians, they wouldn’t have missed a beat.

But flip it around: if people had listened when the Left warned them about the pernicious effects of the Contract with America in 1994, about the perils of platforming Rush Limbaugh and Pat Robertson and Pat Buchanan, we wouldn’t have gotten to Trump. Trump succeeded because of decades of groundwork by the Right, while too many people acted like everything was fine.

There are tens of thousands just like him.

Sorry it wasn’t clear, I’ll dumb it down for you. Republicans don’t need to improve their communication, they’re already winning by doing the things you want Democrats to stop doing.

Start a new thread with this argument please. This one is closed for a bit. I’ll happily move the related posts to the new thread once it is started.

Never mind…

Stupid questions asked by members are irritating me.

how do I cook a microwave packet of rice, how do I report a post, how do I go to the last post?

All fucking stupid questions from long time members that apparently can’t maneuver their way about this simple place. Egads what are y’all thinking?

I am totally fine with folks asking questions like that. It’s the best way for some folks to learn.

There’s a setting you might want to change. Click on your profile in the upper right, click on the silhouette of a person, and click on “preferences.” Click the “security” menu button. Uncheck the box that says “I have to reply to every request for help, even if I think it’s stupid.”

The rice thing was, like, read the package instructions. Follow them, not necessarily really carefully
That’s dumb cooking, a 6 yo. could manage that.

And all the cryptic spelling of the brand name of the rice.
Good grief.

There’s a certain delicious irony in telling people to read something as a result of your not reading something. That’s not what the rice thing was about at all.

Why do posters still think it is OK to start a bare link OP? Especially in P&E and GD?

Put a little more effort into your OPs please.

I know. They wanted to know “why?”

Especially since they could have dropped that one right into the “woke” thread. (Where the next post would have pointed out Maher’s stupidity at calling The View and MSNBC “the far left.”
