Yeah. I stayed out of that thread because it, at best, smacked of teenaged locker room talk/braggadocio. I’m a guy who is about to turn 50. I’m not sure why a comment was made upthread about this devolving into a “war of the sexes.” I don’t think the sex or gender of those raising an eyebrow at that thread enters into it at all. But we all do stupid shit sometimes. Chalk it up and move on, as I don’t know the OP to otherwise be problematic.

The last 60-some posts have been about Moriarty’s dating life. Maybe it’s time for that to get its own Pit thread which I can not read because I don’t care?
I had not been keeping up with the drama as the thread title in question was enough of a shitshow to predict how the thread would actually go but from what I gather, it’s really more about Moriarty’s self-absorption and workout routine than anything resembling ‘dating’

Dunno what Moriarty was thinking. Even the most salacious Straight Dope columns were printed in a newspaper. It was never “Dear Penthouse, I never thought this would happen to me but… I’m dating a porn star”.

I remind you that before the rules were updated, posts could get rather salacious. The SDMB is restrained now. But this was not always the case. It seems my favorite thread has been forgotten.
I can’t remember that there was a rule change about sexual posts per se, just that you can’t post discriminative sexual things anymore. And that’s a good thing. I’m not a prude by far, but I can live very well without the objectifying of women, for example, which used to be common here.
I would need to doublecheck but I am pretty sure the ‘no letters to Penthouse’ rule is new. We previously had threads on

The ‘no linking to pornography’ rule is definitely new. It used to be just the two click rule.
A quick search and it is referenced as part of the vBulletin rules FAQ (now inaccessible) as early as 2006.
Actually, it’s not in the current rules.
