Dear Abby’s sister, Ann Landers, also got fake letters from Yale students back in the day. I think it was just something they did.

Weirdly, you’re not wrong - “Zoobi” is a minced oath in Hebrew, a way of saying “Zayin” (dick). By itself, it’s mostly used to mean “HELL no!”
I’d call that comment of the year, but I think I’ve seen it before.

As this is the pit, this seems like a good place to reminisce about the time we were going out to eat with an Israeli coworker, and one of the places we considered was called “Zion schwarma”. He vetoed it, based on the mental image. (Zion and zayin aren’t exactly the same thing, but they sound pretty damn close in English.)
My Hebrew is practically nonexistent but I went down a slight rabbit hole because zayin looks like a plural word and I was curious about that. I’m probably getting some of this wrong but Google says that it’s from the word root of weapon or sword.
Never mind. Jumped the gun on this one.
Zayin is the name is a letter, and the written letter looks like a penis.
Zion is spelled with a TS as the first letter in Hebrew, so it wouldn’t be such a weird name for a schwarma shop in Hebrew. But it’s spelled with a Z in English, and is pronounced nearly the same as the name of the letter.

I’ve been convinced they were a sock from the start and openly accused them of it (directly to them) here in the Pit. They were just way too familiar from day 1, and was kind of a jerk throughout their posting history.
I’m even more convinced now. Who they were a sock of, I have no clue, but probably someone else banned for insulting people.

They were banned for behavior though and not moderator suspicion. Otherwise they wouldn’t have last a month.
