I suspect that @crowmanyclouds is referring to a pair of… factually challenged… posters that have been doing their best Hanz and Franz of victimization in their own, dedicated pit threads. One of whom finally went so damn far he convinced @Atamasama that he’s not just wrong and misled, but actively trolling.
Neither of those fuckers (this is the Pit I say!) are salvageable in my opinion.
(Just in case it wasn’t clear, I speak of HoneybadgerDC and Sam_Stone, both of whom should be banned from the board long before we ever speak of doing so to Beck.)
I don’t care that much, to be honest, about other people’s sex lives. However, I don’t get holier than though and revert to ridiculous ad-hominem attacks when other people express their views on sexual matters. There is more than one acceptable opinion on subjects outside of online echo chambers.
I do find it funny the intellectual contortions people engage in in order to, in essence, infantilize grown adults. I think the genesis of said contortions is that there is value in weaponized ostracism and by delegitimizing any and all who express disapproval of behaviors outside of a narrowly proscribed set said value is reserved for a privileged few.
I am not opposed to everything and anything the hive does. I actually agree with a lot that I read here. Where I strongly disagree is that I don’t think purity tests are productive. I also don’t think every Republican is literally Hitler.
While I do appreciate Octo meeting us half-way as it were, I don’t want to become another season of the Octo show (although, at least recently they’ve been better about that than SS or HBDC, or those two have been so bad as to drown the flailing pseudopods out), and they’ve got a dedicated thread with lovely hot coals to roast them over if you want.
I’ve never really taken to Beck’s rambling, discursive posting style – just not my taste. But I know others do, and she’s seemed to be a good poster and an asset to the board; I’m content to let her post her “bad, bad, bad” threads and interact with whomever choses to engage her.
That’s why I was a little surprised by her posts in the teacher porn thread. She really took an unexpectedly (to me) nasty, judgmental tone. When she started making up facts to support her opinion, things that she could have no knowledge of (like asserting that one teacher had a drug problem, or that the teacher was making big money off her videos and wasn’t interested in paying off her student loans), that’s where she crossed the line. In my opinion, of course.
I’m not ready to write her off, and I think that she can still contribute to the board; but I do hope she’ll take some time to cool down and reflect.
That ignores all the times she posted that sort of crap earlier, outside the pit. WYKIYRTT.
I’m not the one insisting that MrDribble is a horrible person because he was better at flinging shit in a shit-flinging contest, so even if 1 wasn’t the case, I’m not sure what point you think you are making.
I find myself grateful for the existence of this thread, because there is a simple sentence that I want to put in print: aceplace57 makes me very tired. I don’t think I’m the only one. The posts don’t rise to any mod-able level that I’ve seen, mostly because they occur in MPSIMS and similar lightweight forums.
If you’re going to ask what they do that is so tiring, just go read some of their posts, especially the ones in the threads that they started. The “socialite convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter” one is a good case in point. As I said above, after reading it all my energy is gone and now I’m going to go do something else.
He gets so close to the edge, and then backs off. But this one was extra bizarre: “Too be fair… the BAC in California is .08. Grossman barely met it. However, racing another car in a residential neighborhood and hit and run are contributing factors.” What a weird way to view it. He seems to always have a soft spot for attractive women victims or perps.
He’s an odd duck for sure. Seems to latch onto one tree and totally misunderstand the forest more often than not
He also seems to not read the posts that respond to him very carefully. Or even those in the thread that aren’t responding to him but occur between his last post and his current one.
I have to respond: No repulican can “literally” be hitler. hitler was one person, so several people cannot be him. He is also dead. That also makes it impossible for anyone republican or not to “literally” be hitler.
My dislike of his posting does not rise to the level of pitting. He has a right, I suppose, to be annoying and gullible and undiscerning. As I have a right to complain without pitting, and now, thanks to this thread, a place in which to do it.
