Well, despite my better judgement I engaged briefly with Iamuseless, and they’re either unspeakably damaged, uneducated to the point of being better committed themselves, or truly trolling. I’m currently leaning towards a combination of all three, but it could just be the first two taken to an extreme based on their self reporting of prior clinical evaluations of intelligence and sanity.
At which point, I’ll amend my earlier feeling, I pity them, but if they aren’t trolling, whomever is directing their philosophy is evil as fuck. And no matter the causation of their ideas, it’s the sort of “idealistic good” that has gone so far as to be completely evil.
Their admission to being Hindu points at a potential political cause: Hindu anti-Muslim hate, fed by India’s native right-wing nutjob party, the BJP party and its own Donald Trump-like leadership.
We’re dealing with the Indian equivalent of a racist Trumper, I think. If not a current Indian citizen, then at least a radicalized follower poisoned by the rhetoric. After all, there are right-wing Europeans who admire DJT.
Your scenario is very plausible, but after engaging last night, and checking up, I’m slowly leaning more towards troll. Nothing certain of course, but the way they kept dodging my comments about putting their theories to the test, the sudden springing of being a “brown hindu” which somehow never came up in their long initial thread about all their mental health and employment issues?
Admittedly, it could be a perfect overlap of multiple causation as I said previously, but even if a lot of the background is true (something as I said I’m doubting) there’s more agency involved than I’m comfortable with. I don’t see them as just a victim (of the system, bad sources/propaganda) anymore.

So, with Iamuseless-except-as-a-bad-example on a short suspension, and xtenkfarpl reconsidering, I’m moving on to a different thread where several of us are at loggerheads with a poster.
Jay_Z is doing an amazing job of white knighting for tullsterx in the “Why does everything have to be so polarized these days thread”. This is despite several of us having rubbed Jay_Z’s nose in tullsterx’s night-on threadshitting on the whole board, JZ indicates none of us have the right or knowledge to evaluate T’s experiences and feelings.
JZ hasn’t actually come to my attention much, except that he seems to have a real problem with women where he (largely based on his personal experiences) feels they seem selfish, unfaithful, and uncaring of their partner’s happiness. But there are a lot of desperately unhappy people in this world, and not a few on their board, so I’m not passing judgement.
But what was he THINKING to jump to the defense of a poster who said everyone on this board is full of “crazy leftist bullshit”?!
Well, obviously you and I who are busy countering it are going to have such thoughts, but we’re emotionally compromised (not that I think it changes the validity of the analysis) - so it’s helpful to get input from others!

I have this image that when Stranger_On_A_Train disappears for a few months at a time, he’s busy in the hivemind trying to clean the place up and put it in order, constantly muttering under the breath what an irrational, lazy bunch we all are in a Vulcan-like sense of disapproval.
Oh yeah him. I wouldn’t go so far as to call him a troll but he is definitely has an issue with wanting to educate other people directly. Not in the sense of “let me throw this fact out there, or issue, and let’s talk about it”. But in the sense of “you said something I disagreed with or don’t like, so rather than engage with your argument I’m going to attack your media viewing or news viewing sources.”
And there was one thread that I remember where coverage of MSNBC and Trump was being discussed and I happened to bring up that I watch MSNBC sometimes and have first hand experience with their programming and hosts. Oh God that was a mistake. I got told that watching too much cable news is a bad thing. Well, yes I would agree with that. I also pointed out to him that he has no idea what else I read or watch and shouldn’t be making a million assumptions about my arguments based on one data point. I also threw out an invitation to meet me here, not here in this thread specifically but here in the pit, if he wanted to keep making personal comments about me. Haven’t heard a peep from him since.

um okay dude. You think that shows how much better you are than us, but “I go somewhere just to laugh at the dumbasses there” isn’t the flex you think it is.
I don’t think so. It’s one thing to say, “In my everyday life I’m unavoidably encountering this asshole, and I’m gonna complain about them/laugh at their misfortune.” It’s entirely different to say, “I go out of my way to go somewhere where I don’t respect people, and the only reason I go there is so that I can laugh at those people.” The first is what it means to be human. The second is deeply pathetic.
