Plus, we’re the cool kids.
Quarks and quark.
I mean, obviously. But even if we weren’t, what kind of loser deliberately goes to hang out with the losers?
Reminds me of the old joke about a guy who walks into a bar holding a pile of dogshit. “Hey guys!” he says, “Look what I almost stepped in!”
A very good point.
-le sigh-
Iamuseless is right back to the intolerance thread after their mod-induced break and pushing hard on bloodline definitions only. I know the gears of the mods grind (in general) quite fairly but also (in general) quite slowly.
Opinion time though - while I’m on the fence about if they’re a troll (leaning towards a combo still) I’m increasingly of the opinion that they’re not a salvageable poster. Should they be getting their own pit thread? Because repeated requests for lobotomies to be restored and forcible deportations bordering on ethnic cleansing seems too far for the general intent of this thread.
The Modloop discussion is not closed and I at least will be watching them. We’ll see what happens, maybe I’m wrong.
That wasn’t intended to be a complaint about moderation (and I think based on your response it wasn’t taken so, but wanted to be clear) - I don’t think they’ve quite stepped over any of our deliberately fuzzy lines yet, so it is fully understandable that the mods are being deliberate (not slow) in taking action.
But despite my strong desires to poke them with a stick, I’m going to follow your advice and not feed them any more, troll or not. I’m pretty sure that if everything said to date didn’t make them reconsider, my needling them about putting their money where their mouth is isn’t going to move the dial.
I didn’t take it as such, I just like to share what I can with posters. Especially in this, ATMB threads and the troll thread. I feel like you all collectively help me do my job better. Especially the troll thread. It is sort of community policing which I think was the intent of the Discourse Staff to start with.
I generally find these Trollies-come-latelies to not be worth such because they’re usually gone before the thread can get very long.
Right I agree with this too. The poster in question probably deserved his own pit thread based on the merits. But some trolls are really good at dancing on the line without going over it. This one was… not.
Just for any who aren’t (a small fraction probably) following along in the parent Trolls thread, I-muse-less has been deemed too trolly for our fine board and is thus no longer with us (well done mods!)
IF (huge if) they’re heavily damaged and misled in addition to being a troll, here’s hoping they get effective help that isn’t a lobotomy.
Back to waiting for non-troll sufferers of foot-in-mouth disease to own up to their issues. Or FSM forbid, another season of “Book Club, Motherfuckers!”
Let’s leave all options on the table.
Or in a jar?
That works, too.
True fact: frontal lobotomies don’t result in any tissue that could be put into a jar. Basically, they used to take a wire, insert it into the brain through the eye sockets, and move it around a bit to mess up the brain tissue.
I’m not kidding.
–CairoCarol, who won the NH State Championship in Original Oratory many years ago with a speech calling for the cessation of all lobotomies.
I decided to move my criticism of @ColdBrew50 here.
I would appreciate evidence that XKCD and/or Randall is misogynistic, illterate or a turd.
I was so surprised by that accusation that I spent a few minutes googling Randall Munroe and misogyny and I couldn’t find a single thing.
I assume that’s just trolling.
Yeah this is a head scratcher. I have not seen anything remotely negative about Randall Monroe (his discussion of his fiancee’s cancer was particularly touching IMO), and even if there is some scandal lurking out there being “illiterate” seems like a stretch for a former NASA researcher who regularly covers very advanced physics and maths.
My actual first thought is they have got Randall Monroe confused with Scott Adams. Who is 100% a racists misogynist MAGA, though other than “they both make cartoons” there is a 0 things they have in common AFAIK.
Oh, SDMB, did no one say “cite?”
