Maroon and Gray.
Every school I’ve attended, the colors have been close to that – Red and White, if not Maroon and Gray. This was true of my parochial grammar school, Junior High, Senior High, my Undergraduate school, and one of my graduate schools.
Only one of my schools had different colors – my first grad school colors were blue and yellow. That should have tipped me off that it was the wrong choice.
Our team name was the WildKats. And yes, that’s how it was spelled. :o
Incidentally, every visiting team’s band knew how to play our fight song, because it was surprisingly similar to (i.e., ripped off of) “On, Wisconsin!”
Black and white. Not very imaginative, but damned easy to put a game day outfit together. As drill team manager, I was very glad I could wear black pants and not green or gold.
Our fight song was ‘On, Wisconsin’ with adjusted lyrics. I doubt that there are very many high schools with original compositions for their fight song. I know a major rival used the Notre Dame fight song, and I think the local HS here uses ‘Our Director’ as the melody.
This saves the embarrassment of my undergraduate fight song, which consists mostly of an exhortation to fight and/or fight like men to show our fighting spirit.
