We might get a snowstorm and some icing on Wednesday, which could definitely ruin travel plans for people. ♫ I’m dreaming of a white Thanksgiving/With every pumpkin pie I bake . . . ♪
The AM radio is suggesting that today should be your “travel day” weather wise for the tri-state area around NYC.
The 5-day is listing rain and small accumulations of snow on Wednesday.
We’re traveling on Thursday morning so we might have to budget a bit of extra time to reach the ferry to Long Island. But it shouldn’t be a major problem by dawn unless the storm shifts.
I have a feeling that this is gonna be one of those years that we talk about for years to come. One of those where we get to (appropriately) use the word “Epic” <shudder>
We live in southern Merrylande - Weds and Thurs, we might get a little rain, but the temps are mostly staying above freezing. However, we were supposed to go to my mom’s on Thurs. She live in Harford County, about 100 miles north of us, and according the the National Weather Service, she could get 8-12" of snow on Weds. If that happens, there’s no way we’re going to make it. She lives in the boonies, and even if her neighborhood gets plowed right away (doubtful) her driveway is quite long and winding, and I doubt her plow guy would be out and about on Thanksgiving to dig people out.
So if the snow happens, we’ll be staying home. She may try to do dinner that weekend - a widow living alone can’t possibly eat all the food I’m sure she’s got laid in. But we’ll just have to see what happens. I’ll call her later today.
Temps in the teens and clear hear in the Twin Cities. We might get a teeny bit of snow on Wednesday, just enough to impress all the relatives from out of town.
I’m traveling from MA to CT on Wednesday, normally about a 2-hour drive to my destination. I’m hoping to get out at noon to get a jump on the weather. If not, I’ll be driving through some snow and stuff.
I just checked the NWS site, zooming in specifically on the map of my mother’s area. Looks like they’re calling for 1-3" at most, so I guess the 8-12" range is for the worst predictions in the warning area. Which means we’ll be headed her way on Thursday morning. Wonder how bad I-95 will be around Baltimore?
Here in my part of GA we’re looking at a low of 28, high of 48 with no chance of rain. Those temps are about 10 degrees below normal - chilly, but not epic. And for that, I’m thankful!
