What will you do if Trump wins in November?

He lives in the stratosphere. No Gravy SEAL has the cardiovascular capacity to cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war at HIS house.

And I’m guessing he’s not going to give any of them a hit off his O2 tank either!

You mean the facility that has been ongoing though 8 years of Biden as VP and 3 years as Biden as President? That Guantanamo Bay?

Me:

I guess “I don’t care who is hurt or killed as long as I have more of that sweet, sweet money” is a kind of philosophy of life.

“I mean, say what you want about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it’s an ethos.” - Walter Sobchak

Nova Scotia was advertising real estate back in 2016 with a semi-serious slant of “If Trump wins, you can always come here!” Not that I’d really consider moving up there, but it is beautiful. Maybe for warmish months. Especially, the Highlands in Cape Breton. Hmm, let me check into this.

Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in December, 1941. By the end of 1942 ~120,000 Japanese-Americans (most of whom were US citizens) were in “relocation centers” AKA concentration camps.

If the question is “How long would it take for there to be concentration camps?” history shows the answer is “Not long at all.”

Which as a gun rights advocate I heartily approve of. I’ve been baffled by the presumption so many have voiced on the SD that somehow only supremacist would-be fascists would be armed. Bullies of all stripes suddenly become a lot less arrogant when their potential victims are armed.

Have people been saying so on the SD? Maybe they have and I’ve missed it; but when I’ve seen that assumption it’s usually been in right-wing cartoons seen elsewhere.

I do that already, vote in every single election. I have mentioned my grandmother in other threads, she voted first for president in 1928, and last in 2012. She had passed before the election results, just short of being 108. Grandma was my idol, even though my votes probably canceled hers, or vice versa.

Weep over how stupid and irresponsible half the adults in this country are. After that, donate money to causes I believe in to help limit the damage.

I used to believe demographic changes would save this country. But its been 16 years since Obama won. About 1/4 of the electorate in 2008 is dead now and replaced by younger people, but sadly the country is more right wing than ever.

For folks like me who count on social security, if trump and the republicans shut that off, I will not be able to pay bills and will end up homeless. Even if they just decrease it, it could affect my ability to eat every day. And without Medicare, I will not be able to afford the gabapentin that keeps me upright and out of excruciating pain.

I do still work part time, but at 67 and with bad arthritis in my spine, I honestly don’t know how much longer I can keep even doing part time work.

So, it may be laughable to some or hyperbole to others, but they told us they’d take away abortion and they did and they tell us all the time that social security and medicare is on the chopping block so I think I have very good reason to fear a republican take over.

And I’m just one of millions in my shoes.

Well around 33% anyway. About 66% of eligible voters came out in 2020. Trump will need about half give or take.

Exactly. As a trans woman, I am one of the first people they would come after, so I need to be prepared. They are already succeeding in legislating away my rights in many states, and while I’m somewhat safe here in California, I find myself with fewer and fewer places to life safely elsewhere.

Unfortunately too many liberals have such a negative view on guns that they don’t see how necessary they can be. Especially for those of us who can’t rely on the system to protect us.

You wouldn’t be the first!

What will I do if Trump wins?

Cry. I’ll allow myself an epic meltdown to vent my rage and sorrow and frustration.

And then I’ll continue on with my life as a tree-hugging Democrat living in a very red state.

I’m one of the lucky ones. (Or luckier, I guess. A Trump win will not be good for anyone, just much, much worse for many.) I have no kids, no grandkids, and am well above childbearing years even if I wanted kids. I’m white, soundly employed, husband makes a good income too. On the face of it we’ll be ok.

If we have Trump again I’ll keep myself TO myself as much as possible, and funnel donations to good causes. I’m not an activist by nature, but this old dog might be pushed to embrace new tricks

I looked into moving to Canada and Portugal last time Trump was elected. Canada doesn’t want me. (Too old.) I might have swung Portugal, but I’ve never been there and don’t speak the language, and they’ve since made it a lot harder. Being monolingual (and I’ve tried lots of languages) is a disability if you want to emigrate.

I think I’m reasonably safe. But i have a lot of trans friends.

You can always try Belize. English is the official language, and it appears easy to retire there.

I’m not a Trump fan at all, but that’s a completely empty calorie answer.

That’s about what I will do. I may allow myself, in addition to the meltdown(just one) to get really snockered. At least what remains of my relatives are not MAGA types.

I wouldn’t move to another country, because that would be abandoning this one, and I love it. It’s home. And I would much rather live in a country that people try to sneak into rather than out of.

Interesting.

That’s really far away from all my current connections, hobbies, friends, and family. (Europe isn’t. I have enough European friends that i randomly ran into an English friend in a shopping mall in Prague. One of the virtues of Portugal for me is that it’s really close to England, Germany, and Scandinavia, where i have a lot of contacts. There’s a lot of social stuff connected to my hobbies somewhat locally that i could develop a friend network fairly easily. And in immigration to England, Germany, or any Scandinavian country was easier, i might actually have done it.)

But Belize actually might be feasible.
