What would be a good greek name for a half man half pear

Say that you, quite bizarrely I know, had a character in fiction that was half man half pear. What would be a good name derived from Greek?

It’s not Greek, but… manjou.

George R.R. Martin couldn’t think of a name either.

Are you looking for a personal name or a name for the species?
How about “anthropachladi” or “anthrachladi”?

Personal name. This would be a one of a kind child. Think son of Zeus.

Which half is pear? That’s not just a joke, I’ve become genuinely interested in what this man-fruit looks like. Or is this just another one of those ‘man by day, pear by night’ stories?

Good! Or possibly just “Danjou”, who could go by Dan.

His mom was a pear tree through half the “pregnancy”. And like Zeus’ other children he’s entirely man shaped, but he’ll have some weird pear-related quirks that I’ve mostly not thought up yet.

That is kind of interesting. A sweet but gritty personality underneath maybe. I think there are some pears in Roman or Greek mythology.

Did Matthew Perry create this character?

This, of course.

Greek for pear is achládi, so maybe Achlades?

The god Pyrus would approve of naming the character “Bradford”.

I’d go for Anthropyrus, myself. A good-old greek/latin mashup.

Anthroapios might be the ancient greek version of anthropyrus. if you prefer that.

Lots of good suggestions. I’ll play around with them and see what sticks.

That isn’t half-man-half-pear, it’s 90% pear and 10% creepy vaguely-human mouth. :dubious::slight_smile:

Pear-icles

His nickname could be “Bosco.”

Light syrup, huh.
