Scenario A:
Vader says: “I find your lack of faith in my son disturbing…”
And then Wolvie dies of asphyxiation.
Then Luke whines that he could have handled it.
Scenario B:
Luke says: “mumble mumble I think I have this right …Wolverine if you strike me down I will become more powerful than you can imagine!”
snickt slice
Luke: “Cough, cough, then again, I could be wrong….ack!”
All joking aside, for the reasons others have mentioned, I would give it to Luke.
People talk about Wolverine blocking with one arm as if he could.
After one strike we’re talking bare metal bones with a few shreds of charred muscle and tendon. Totally useless, even as a shield. Hell, lesser men than wolvie would be out from pain and blood loss at that point. Luke could easily move around it to talke the other arm, disembowel, or sneak his saber into the throat, between ribs, or an eye socket.
Luke wins on range alone, enough strokes and Wolverine is either dead, passed out, or utterly incapacitated.
Against a really good fighter (which Wolverine is), range really doesn’t account for much past first strike. You’d be amazed how one quick, wide step can close range REAL fast!
As for the passing out from pain thing, Wolverine’s suffered a lot more painful things than being cut to the bone, and half the time, it didn’t even phase him. One little example: He was captured and had one arm bound by a huge metal bind. This was back before he got his adamantium out, so instead of cutting it, he simply pulled his arm out of it…tearing all the flesh on his forearm to shreds. His response? To lick his arm while grinning menacingly at the guards, and then taking them out. Wolverine can handle a LOT of pain! Aside from that saber to the eye, most cuts wouldn’t phase him that much, just send him into a blind rage (he’s had his throat torn out plenty of times as well…he’s gotten better).
